I missed the JoMo match but caught some of the second set of the Searle/Glinka match.

Rather disappointing result for JoMo to say the least - without having seen a single shot, its pointless to make any specific comments, but in general his stellar form towards the middle and back end of last year, which had many of us very excited, seems to have stalled somewhat. Perhaps the crazy progress of Jake post college set crazy expectations in my own head, but having watched JoMo in some of his 2024 matches, I thought (and still do) that hes a top 100 prospect, and then some.

The little I saw of Harry was underwhelming today TBH. He has big weapons, but I thought he was rather loose (lots of misses on attempted winners by a long way), his return of serve wasnt effective enough, and he started chuntering to himself and having a go at the umpire when things started to unravel. He actually generated very few BPs, and IMO the result was more than fair - but again Im certain this is an opponent that Harry would feel he should be beating, given his obvious talent and potential.

What I love is that a large contingent of Brits have made the 2/3 week tour out to Georgia for these 2 tournaments and I feel that on their day almost all of them could come through and win the tournaments. Ryan won last week, and I was hoping JoMo might come through this week - but perhaps one of the others can fill their boots.

Except that there are now only two who could do that, Charlie, who'll face Pokorny if he beats Chidekh, & George, who'll have to take on Martin Damm.  hmm

JoMo's result was no suprise, give he struggled last week.

So the surprise was that he struggled last week?

Yes - his form dipped and lost matches he was expected to win.

Well Charlie did get through and Pokorny isnt to be feared; Damm is not what he once was and lost to Ryan (I think from memory) last week. So fingers crossed

Damm beat the ninth seed, Strombachs, by 1 & 3 in his last 16 match.

Both Charlie & George have surprised me today - pleasantly, needless to say.  smile

These results are as good as what we could have expected, going to ranking .. Henry pulling off a win .. although it's a Damm shame for Toby to have lost, he put up a good performance

What did the fish say when he swam into a wall?   Dam!
