Things are finally starting to look up a bit for the Brits:

QR1:  (qWC) Arthur Féry WR 479 defeated (q3) Kyrian Jacquet (FRA) WR 142 by 2 & 1  biggrin

FQR:  (qWC) Arthur Féry WR 479 vs (ALT) Ugo Blanchet (FRA) WR 172 (CH = 139 last September)

As far as I can see Blanchet has no real form especially on grass. Any insight CD?

Not much, seagull, I'm afraid but for what it's worth:

Blanchet got through qualis at RG, which was a big boost for him, but that's clay, it's hardly the same thing

He's quite a small guy (mind you, so is Arthur)

I saw him play last year at Wimbly qualis, against Gio Mpetshi Perricard

And he did OK, made the second set quite tricky, but - to be honest - I was more focused on Gio

I think of him very much as a true 150-200 player

And, yes, not one with any real grass pedigree

Interesting to see them starting main draw today with Ryan in action. Not sure Ive seen a challenger main draw starting Sunday with qualies still in round one action?

First match on grass for Jan this season so we will take that. Paul should be favourite in the next one, though .

Blanchet had a right moan at the umpire during the final changeover. She had to warn him to "be careful what you say" before just letting him rant. Once he'd finally finished, she paused and said "Do you feel better now?" LOL.
