Hmm not sure he doesn't though. Who else gets the spare one?

It is an interesting one - if they kept it back and only Ryan and Jan were playing today and both lost, it feels weird to then give it to them. They may have hoped one would win and break the tie, so to speak. But they didnt.

So what they do seems a strange one to me - maybe they need to wait for Nottingham to finish or Queens/Halle and see if there is a deserving overseas player who comes through? Schoolkate for example, if he doubles up with back to back challengers this week after Ilkley, he may get their nod?

Hard to see them not giving it, Ryan and Jan losing, and then them giving them one?!

Personally agree with the above! I guess all they could now do is bump up one that isn't those two? Fery maybe? I feel it more likely it's a non Brit as well though sadly!

In other years, though, the spares just went to the next on the acceptance list

They don't need to attribute them (thought I hope they do)

Colton Smith and Mochizuki both had semis in Brum and Ilkley respectively; Schoolkate won Ilkley.

If one of those three take this title in Nottingham, they may have a shout. Unlikely for Smith or Mochizuki, though.

I would say it is all eyes on Schoolkate - he is playing his last 16 match as we speak.

He is ranked 106 as well, live 101. So a title here would take him to around 90.

That all said, he is an early break down, so may well mess it all up

Nava, Faria, Landaluce and Atmane are also still in Nottingham and not in main draw. Not sure if a title would be anywhere near enough for them, although Landaluce has some interest as a recent top junior

I guess the point is whoever wins Nottingham could get in the mix.

As you were saying elsewhere though, they seem to have just gone for it this year ( you'ed think they were ruddy French ).

Don't go slightly spoil it now AELTC with that old next on the acceptance list nonsense.

Personally I'd like Fery to get the upgrade! Probably should've been in Nottingham still, young and I think of the options I'd see him getting a win more... plus he's a fav of mine :)

I guess they need to sort it out before they allocate Eastbourne wild cards as well. Whoever gets upgraded, if anyone does, is free to also take one for Eastbourne if offered. Although they have given them as consolation prizes in the past, if I recall.

Well, if Schoolkate is after that last wildcard, he isnt helping himself at 6-2 5 all down
