Riedi has grass pedigree, Surbiton final ( or win, cant remember) last year. And been on edge of top 100. Interesting match for Hamish .

Blockx former AO junior champ - he and Oli T could be very tight battle.

I don't like quoting exact odds but basically, according to the bookies, a Hamish win would be quite a surprise -- an upset.

The Oli situation is quite different -- Oli is an underdog but the issue is considered somewhat close.  An Oli loss is more likely than a win but an Oli win would not be particularly surprising either.

Riedi has had two knee surgeries since last September, and this is only his third tournament back. But he was a very promising young player.

Both winnable, Id say - and loseable also!

Hamish to BBC reporter, whose name is refusing to stick in my memory (not Annabel Croft) & who asked him to explain the last few minutes of the match:  "Somehow I won!"  biggrin

I also saw that interview.  It was between Hamish and Abigail Johnson.

I know, but Pippa Horn is so distinctive (and not in a good way) that I recall it was her. But now can't find the interview.

I knew it was Abigail Somebody because Hamish said (something like) "Thanks, Abigail" at the end of the interview.

Hamish should buy a lottery ticket biggrin

He won fair and square - but by the skin of his teeth - Luca never serves DFs - it's not his game - and then he serves two in the MTB ???? That's hilarious

I saw a set and a half

Big bravo to Hamish for coming back after losing such a close second set

Only seems like yesterday I was watching him play - and beat - a very temperamental Moutet two courts away in juniors smilesmile

Oli deserved it - Galarneau didn't have a touch on grass tennis in him - it was solid and decent but he could have made SOME effort to recognise the surface he was playing on

And, as Lambda predicted, it was a battle but Tarvet was like a terrier, so physical, his trainer kept shouting 'legs' - and he does have amazing quads - and really uses them in every shot (so maybe a terrier with very strong legs )

Riedi looking fit and well and essentially too good for Hamish in set 1. I think Hamish will have to go a fair bit above and beyond to prevail here. At which point he breaks with some excellent play

3-6 *3-1

Watching Oli for the first time. He looks like a baseliner, but on occasions has ventured to the net.
Looks to be very solid.

Is Tarvet in the college system? Genuinely never heard of the bloke and I still remember names like Ed Corrie, Fran Stephenson, Eleanor Dean and David Rice.

(Watching on mute so will have missed if John Lloyd/Andrew Castle have spoken about it ad nauseam)
