Im coming down from Manchester tomorrow cant wait to see Emily! Delighted for her.
On a side note, how annoying they have scheduled the two GB men to both play at 11!

Bianca Adreescu lost today. People moan about Emma but it could be a whole lot worse

Oh Emily

Tense tiebreak but she is going for it and gets to *6-4

Hits the right serve out wide, short reply, is up to it early and has a huge space to hit into but blasts it way long. Then keys a fairly straightforward pass to lose the set.

6-2 6-7(6)

She just had to get that second shot anywhere on the ad side and she'd won the match

-------------------

This was the point I got up and left in disgust at Emily not following my requested script.

Seriously, yes the TB should have been done and dusted 7-4 and the match won. It was an awful miss. But I would have stayed on if time wasn't moving on so much as well.

I did feel a bit guilty after following her through QR1 and these first 2 sets today. With my phone then switched off to save the battery, I am absolutely delighted to just now read re what occurred in the third set.

Brilliant! Well done, Emily!

One for CD. During the Martic - Janicijevic match I picked my seat on court 3 for the view I wanted for Marni's match and found myself sitting next to Pauline Parmentier - and surrounded by French fans.

I bailed then, changed my mind and went back then bailed for good at 3-2.  My reasoning was that I'm there tomorrow so if she won today, I'll see her tomorrow and if she lost today I'd be annoyed that I stayed.

Thrilled I'll be able to see her tomorrow.

I'm hoping atleast 1 of the 3 will win.

Anyone care to explain why Mboko vs Hon is the women's match that follows Oliver T vs Blockx on Court 1, while Emily vs Erjavec is on Court 4?

Scheduling has been ridiculous!

Emily's mstch is not before 12.30. Well that would have been unlikely anyway since the men play best of 5 in the FQR.

But if the Court 4 men's match runs shorter than say your choice of Oliver T on Court 1or Hamish on Court 2 then you will probably have to bail out early from that match to catch all of Emily or even to claim one of the limited available seats. There are only 2 matches on each court, once folk settle down for Emily's match ( maybe there before the match ) they are not very likely to be leaving

I'm relatively near by for the week, and I've already had a very good 3 days. But there are clearly some folk travelling quite a distance on FQR day. And sorry AELTC, but a great many will want to see Brits, including our one remaing woman, trying to take that final step into the main draw, and you serve up this.

It's a piece of nonsense in my humble opinion.

from the beeb yesterday

"Meanwhile, in the women's event the British interest lies with Amarni Banks, Lily Miyazaki, Ella McDonald, Amelia Rajecki, and Ranah Stoiber."

Emily not mentioned ? . confuse

Unfortunately with 2 matches on each court it's impossible to schedule so we can see all 3.  You can see the next court from the high stand at court 1 if you sit on the right (which I tend to do) but the next court doesn't have much seating. Atleast court 4 has the sliding bank.  It would have been nice to have Emily on court 1 though.

The Beeb put out a short article yesterday evening about the qualifying.

I bailed on Emily at 6-6

It was getting TOO late

And I'd missed the MTB for Hamish - and he won it - so I thought it might bring Emily good luck if I skipped hers

You're welcome, Emily biggrin

And if I make it today, and anyone else has a MTB, I promise faithfully to make myself scarce

Well done to her, though - although arguing about the linecalls is not very productive smile

Some really lovely serving though - always said she has one of the best serves of all the Brits - the out wide one was absolutely killing Barbora

Minor Jeremy Bates thing. All through the 1st set and up to 6 -4 in the tiebreak for the 2nd set he was standing in the corner above the court by some railings. At 6-4 in the tiebreak he moved to the path running parallel to the court.
I thought it very stupid.

That IS stupid - I saw him up in his eyrie for the most part - but hadn't noticed him moving at 6-4
