Week 26 - Wimbledon, Women's Qualifying - Grass

JB, for it is him, doesn't exactly exert himself with his applause when Emily plays well, doesn't say a word when she's at her towel right next to him, and is doing that old running commentary to the side with what she is doing wrong with wee hand gestures.

*2-5.  C'mon, pick it up, Emily.

I've got my spot near the bottom. My initial spot was a bit higher up but I slid on down to a nicer spot. Is that Mr Bates with a front row seat?

Sorry to hear about this medical condition, indy, but rather too much information...

After going 0-3 down, Emily has just seen her first break back point at 2-4*...

She's not playing anywhere close to yesterday's level. Nerves again I suspect.

Stats yesterday had her serving around 2 aces per DF.

Today it's 0 aces, 4DFs.

2-6

Emily has held a break lead since the first game of the second set. 2-6, 4-2* now...

Yes, serve has been off, as has her game close to the net a bit surprisingly. Awful at dealing with some short balls today.

She is being told that her opponent isn't hurting her from the back of the court and be patient but aggressive from the back. Not bad advice.

Anyway, 4-2*

The commentators in the Mboko / Hon match are so biased in favour of the Canadian. Hon however has saved 5 match points and taken the

second set which was not in their script.

Ran out of gas, and ran out of belief.

*0-5

Shame after everything this final set has been so uncompetitive. But what a week.

At *0-3 in the final set that advice was rather changed to "take time away from her, get up the court".

I thought her opponent moved very well and Emily didn't bring her A serve.
