So a bottom half of

Fritz v Thompson
Khachanov v Majchrzak

Cam v Jarry
Rublev v Alcaraz

I can see a centre court day on Sunday of Cam and Carlos and Sonay. Unless Emma wins of course, in which case, perm 3 from 4!

I hope so, but I'm not convinced that they won't put Sabalenka back on centre instead of Sonay. They're getting better at putting Brits on the biggest courts, but still not great.

Cam might also request court one, it is his favourite!

It is isn't it, I'm not sure if they can request courts though or whether they just do what they're told?!

Cam has his wish. Number one court again.

It's quite smart for Cam to be so vocal about his preference for Court 1. The schedulers can't be unaware and if it's not an absolutely clear decision they might as well avoid the "well you lot put Cam on Centre".

I suspect the schedulers are more than happy to have atleast 1 Brit state a preference for Court 1.

Pretty good scheduling, Sonay then Cam with a bit of a break in between, with the option to watch a bit of Sabalenka while waiting for Cam.
Also a fair chance for both to get through, wouldn't have bet on those two as the last Brits standing!

Do they play on the middle Sunday this year? I know they did last year and manic Monday didnt happen as it used to, but cant remember if that was down to rain or a forever change?

It was introduced in 2022 as a permanent change. So yes.

Is the middle Sunday in the first week or the second? (i.e. Are Ms Kartal & Mr Norrie through to the second week already, or do they have to win today?)

Traditionally, second week was when the last 16 started, but it was always a Monday.

id say week 2 starts today, but it hasnt been a week since it started! So who knows!

I would say today is definitely first week. There are two identical weeks, Mon-Sun and Mon-Sun.

I look at it as Week 2, when the singles moves into the L16.

OK, it was clearer with no middle Sunday and all the L16 matches were played on Manic Monday rather than split Sunday & Monday.

But I stick to that, especially as I have written out ( spreadsheets, what are they? ) my list of Week 28 GB competitors, ( which gets crossed off one by one or clearly much more rarely a big circle put round their initials when they win a title ). And CN and SK are on there!

And actually it's a bit tough on the players playing today who get knocked out to say they didn't make the second week, while all these with their feet up until tomorrow have.

Agreed in terms of days of week. But those guys playing tomorrow make second week and those today who lose dont?

For me, making the last 16 is making the second week, even if it isnt the second actual week. Its always been the case

Fritz through after Thompson retired second set. Khachanov beat Majchrzak in straights
