Very good from Katie to stay strong in the final set.
It worries me that bar the top 4 GB players, I don't see anyone capable of climbing up to the top 100 in the next couple of years, bar Jodie
The experienced players are dropping back and the young pretenders are not ready yet.

I was worried in the 90s that no British player ever again would reach the Top 100.

Well done Katie, but pretty horrible tennis. Maybe they were too similar: plenty of power but not much finesse.

What about a couple of the men coming out of college?
Our chats in this forum about Harriet are more emotive than about any other player. She has the ability to make people feel. No indifference.
I think Emma engenders far stronger and varying emotions than Harriet
I'm glad no one was saying anything nasty about Harriet
But if people are just pointing out that she looked morose on the court, then that's what this forum is for, too - to give information and impressions, to make other readers want to read it
Yes definitely far more varying emotions for Emma: some people are quite positive about her.
Yes, agree that this forum is for information and impressions, and it's my impression that people tend to pile on Harriet. But at least we've stopped speculating on her upbringing and behaviour as a child.

Too early to say. Mimi has climbed 300 places. I dont think you can ask more than that TBH. Mika and Hannah are a year behind and just need the experience at pro level when they are ready. Mimi has talked about how she is still, limited at 17 as to how many matches she can play. That will change when she is 18 in September. Kind of think Mimi might be in a Sonay trajectory but lets see what happens. Of course there will be some who come through as well that still arent on the radar.
So all 3 of our DAs won, taking down seeds 9 and 20. KB claimed the biggest scalp of the day, across the whole of this half of the draw.
None of our WCs won, but none were completely outclassed.
The 3 youngsters particularly all put up a decent showing, all playing against top 50 players, and gaining really valuable experience and more prize money to invest than they could sanely hope to generate in a couple of years playing ITFs.
