Not a great performance let's be honest against a ropey looking opponent, but a very useful debut at this level all the same with some nice moments.
Be very educational for Hannah watching this one back - she should see and learn from how little it would have taken for her to have really been putting serious pressure on Fernandez. Just needed to return a fraction better, she netted so many fairly routine seconds serves.
Oh well. Onto the juniors.
I watched it live and tbh I think LF actually played really well. She was taking the ball very early and this seemed to be throwing Hannah off (if this was by design then hats off to her team - seems like a very clever ploy against someone who has done an extended clay block). Hannah didnt play at the absolute top of her game but she wasnt awful either - last few points being maybe the exception. And in the middle there were moments when you felt the momentum might switch.
Edit* Your point about missing easy second serve returns is interesting though - she def could have been better there

Mixed entries haven't yet closed (thankfully, as it's a terrible list and would confirm the US Open has the right idea). So we'll see some new pairings go in but this initial set of entries gives us some idea of potential GB pairings (Marcus/Lissey etc...)

I'm intrigued as to whether they allocate the wild cards. Harriet, Jodie, Heather aren't on the list and then it would be Freya, Ella and Millie. Mimi is there as an alt, but Hannah and Mika aren't on the list. And of course Katie and Emma might want to play.
(Maddie is in Bucharest and Naiktha is in Monastir)
PS - SC usually covers the mixed in the men's section once the draw is out.

Hi both - any chance you can provide the entry list or a link to it? Been searching but cant find it. Thanks
Thank you - how would one even find that list! The menu doesn't mention entry lists and it is hidden under Visitors A to Z - it wouldnt even dawn on me to look for it there.
I do wish these organisations would make life easier, we aren't all detectives and we dont all have time to search and search!
Very good from Katie to stay strong in the final set.
It worries me that bar the top 4 GB players, I don't see anyone capable of climbing up to the top 100 in the next couple of years, bar Jodie The experienced players are dropping back and the young pretenders are not ready yet.
What about a couple of the men coming out of college?
No issues with the men - plenty on the up and coming through the college route.
The women coming through college, I don't see any potential superstars. They may break into the top 500, but i don't see many GB college or non college players ready to push into the 150- 250 range.
