That hold for 4-1 so impressive. Shes serving 73 percent first services in - thats impressive. Good analysis of her serving just now. Shes got a real game face on.
Ive not seen her live since the US Open final win -whats all the fuss been about?
Emma played incredibly well for a set and a half, so much so that I'm not sure that anyone other than Sabalenka would have beaten her tonight.
In the end the sheer weight and power of Sabalenka's shots just wore Emma down but Emma forced her to raise her level to her best to beat her. Some very promising signs over the last two matches especially, if she can keep playing at this level then a return to the top 20 and even the top 10 looks very realistic.
Mixed feelings because there were times when it really looked like she had a chance to win (and because of how open the draw would have been) but all in all, has to be a positive tournament for her.
Great win for Sonay earlier too and a match that she could win in the last 16, so pleased for her.

Finally she has played at the level she is capable of. I have not seen her play better. Certainly the performance was at the level of 2021 but the quality was higher, as the opposition was tougher. And she has learned that she can handle a power game from the other side of the net.
She outlined earlier in the day the half a dozen areas she is hoping to improve upon.
Can't wait to see her play at this level and demolish those of lesser capability. That's the first thing to improve upon.
Up until *4-4 in the second when the wheels came off Emma, I thought that was exceptional from both ladies. While Emma had chances in both sets I felt these were largely taken away from her by Aryna - maybe just at *40-15 at 4-2 she could have hit her spots a little better to get out the game. But of course Aryna should have closed out the first 6-4 with all those poor backhand returns, so for Emma to have even got ahead to *6-5 and then pulled the tiebreak back took huge effort.
Now Emma: stay healthy, stay happy, and get yourself seeded for the US Open. Let's go!
