Weeks 27 & 28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (Womens') (grass) - main draw

Pavs a bit up and down. Sonay better now she's settled. Shame she didn't take that game point for 4-2*, and then a break point at 3-3* is saved with a big forehand winner. Misses another 3 - only one she had a proper chance on and missed the backhand.

*3-4

Scoreboard pressure now on Sonay.

Misses 40-15* and an advantage. Gar.

*4-5

Bit of drama with the electronic line calling now. Oh wow they are replaying the whole thing? Sonay's ball was miles out, that's ridiculous especially as the Umpire said he saw the ball as being out. Messy.

Sonay ends up with another break point.

*5-4

Oh man, I really don't like this. That was Pavs game. Outrageous, why the Umpire couldn't overrule the clear mistake from the system I don't understand.

Agreed. I feel for Pavs. I could not hear what the umpire was mumbling but feel he has not handled the situation fairlly.

Sonay misses a set point but I'm rather glad Pavs broke back in the end.

It has happened before DF - at a match in the States apparently and the decision was to replay and that the Umpire wasn't allowed to overrule even when the error was clear. If there's a failing the ball hasn't been tracked in the point they replay the whole thing. But again it feels stupid.

*5-6

Pavs looks to be channeling the anger well now, absolutely blasting through Sonay.

So it should be 4-7 now, or 4-6 0-1

 Exactly

He can't overrule it

That would defeat the worth of the system

Yes, it was completely wrong

But so are linespeople sometimes

And only having three reviews

Good tiebreak from Pavs. When she's on she's really on.

Such a long set where Pav played the big points a bit better! Not a lot between them though!

After the linecall problem, I would have felt very uncomfortable if Kartal had won that set.

Let her win this from here in 2 sets.

At the moment I feel like unless Sonay has a plan B to disrupt her opponent, she's just going to get blown off the court.

Sonay's length has dropped quite a bit and it's letting Pavs tee off on some beauties. Id like to see her get back to whipping some loopy forehands out wide a bit more again. She's not doing enough now to get Pavs out of position.

*2-2

Stop hitting through the middle!

Yeah they've just said Sonay's ball is 4ft! shorter this set already. Pavs will take that all day long and say thank you very much.

2-3*
