Weeks 27 & 28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - DOUBLES

4pm feels quite late to be starting a possible 5 set marathon.

They'll finish it whatever because of the roof and presumably still will within decent daylight. But why take the chance that they might have to faff around with the roof and change things so much at a crucial stage in the match?

Julian - Lloyd 6-2 4-2 coasting, then a horrible service game by Julian.

Never in doubt - except when Julian was broken in the eighth game of the second set!  Julian & Lloyd s/Wimbledon Champions!  ban-woohoo.gif

Final:  (5) Julian Cash & Lloyd Glasspool CR 22 (12+10) defeated (ALT) Rinky Hijikata & David Pel (AUS/NED) CR 231 (149+82) by 6-2 7-6(3)  biggrin

Glasspools reaction was very- hes a bit annoyed he has been made to play in the heat today and nothing more or less. I enjoyed.

Good job lads

Amazing! :D

That first set was fantastic; had to feel for David Pel who was broken 3 times, and Hijikata who played some gorgeous stuff in the second, but a deserved victory.

Number 1 in the race and up to 3 and 4 in the rankings - so we now have the 3, 4 and 5 in the world. Well done to Louis Cayer!

A wonderful effort by the boys. I was quite worried when Hijikata started redlining it, by they focused on Pel and got the job done.

Amazing that six players - Murray, Salisbury, Skupski, Patten, Cash, Glasspool - have won Grand Slam men's doubles titles in recent years.

The reason ?  Louis Cayer.  That's the reason.
