If Fran beats the qualifier her R2 match would be between another qualifier and Panna Uvardy WR150 and then probably 2nd seed Cristian in the QF. All together an excellent chance to enter the top 100.

It was a WTA 125 as opposed to an ITF event.

The WTA list these sperately from the main tour events, but don't use the word challenger - although I suppose that is a good description. Still a WTA title though !

From Wiki re WTA125 , as TA says, a WTA title but not part of the WTA Tour

Sometimes called the WTA Challenger Tour (analogous to the men's ATP Challenger Tour),[1][2] it is the second highest level of women's competition, below the top-tier WTA Tour, and above the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour tournaments.
