Week 30 - ATP 500 - Mubadala Citi Open - Washington, DC, USA (hard)

I really thought Dan was going to turn that round. He had a code violation for something (verbal obscenity perhaps) in the last few points, that didn't help his concentration I'm sure. shame, I love to see him win and be happy.

Ball abuse. After losing a point he took a ball out of his pocket and belted it.

I've watched the two minute highlights of Moutet v. Muller on the ATP site. It isn't easy to glean too much information from such a short selection of fab shots, but the commentators made it clear that Moutet was playing out of his skin. 6-0, 6-1 when there is no injury involved is vanishingly rare in men's tennis.  I am unfamiliar with Corentin M, never seen him play before.  He does seem to have a reputation though!

I am really looking forward to this evening's match!

JonH, if you are right about Dan being top 100 by the end of the USO, I shall buy you beer.

Need a few more grass tournaments to make that happen perhaps but I hope I'm wrong - he has had his mojo back for a while .. come on Dan! get up there and then 'Swan song' it out in '26

Yes - it wasn't a biggie - and Moutet had been doing his grandstanding too at the other end - he hurled his racket into the tarpaulin sheet at the back and I got the feeling Dan was just playing ball, so to speak - I don't think Dan even heard the warning, he was expecting it

Moutet certainly played some inch perfect shots, even when under a lot of pressure

Dan didn't look too cross, he's a smart tennis man, I think he knew there was nothing he could do on those ones

I see that M. Moutet went on to beat Medvedev (8) in three sets in the QF...

A brilliant spectactle - more badminton than tennis in some moments - Daniil was NOT happy at the end, but was gentleman enough to shake hands

Interesting final in Washington - AdM v ADF.

AdM is back in the top 10 with reaching the final and could go 8th in the rankings and Race with the title.

ADF is up to 19 in the live rankings and 11th live Race and could go into the top 10 in the Race with the title.

Big match and opportunity for both.
