FQR: (ALT) Arthur Féry WR 318 vs Martín Landaluce (ESP) WR 137 (CH = 133 in February)
Landaluce beat the (q16) Garin (who I did NOT enjoy watching at Wimbly qualis this year - a pretty ugly game of tennis) in a three set, third set tiebreaker, long match
Which has got to be good for Arthur, presumably
Young Riedi (who I like and who beat Hamish at Wimbly in that really tight match that Indy was commentating on and then lost to Oli Tarvet) put out (q4) Carreno Busta
Coleman Wong who has the loudest support group ever - and whom Henry Searle beat easily at Ilkley - beat the (q3) seed, J Cerundulo
Interesting to see how summer pans out for all the other players who left impressions when they were over here on grass ...

Well yes but Arthur also played a long third set tiebreaker match?

I know there is more noise around Landaluce, and he is getting ops at higher levels, but I think Arthur has a decent shout here. I saw a bit of Landaluce in Ilkley, tbf it was doubles, and he certainly attracted a decent crowd to the match and seemed to have quite a buzz around him. His grass challenger results were ok, he did get better as the weeks went on, but since then he had a couple of clay 250's that he entered and lost first round in straight sets.
Arthur seems to be able to play big matches, that win over Popyrin at Wimbledon was really good. The Spaniard is favourite but Arthur could get this one.
Jake v Bergs seems a very close match but I am not sure either is on form currently - Jake is in a slump; Bergs by other forum members reviews was pretty pants against Dan in Washington.
Could be a chase to the bottom but also a chance for Jake to kick start his season again?

Yeah, Landaluce has had a slightly disappointing year: he's from the same junior year as Fonseca (although only just, he's a Jan birthday and a full 9 months older) and only just got pipped by him to the final place at the Next Gen finals last year. He then (alongside Fonseca and Tien) was one of the young guns who managed to qualify for the Aus Open but beyond that he hasn't really been able to find consistent form, reaching the semis in Nottingham is arguably his best result since January, and he's only 8th in this year's Next Gen Race. Still think Arthur should be clearly treated as the underdog, but it's certainly not impossible.
Yowch, looks like Landaluce was straight out of the blocks. Arthur going down 0-4 in 15 minutes but has held serve at last, so hopefully can get into the match.
