If Joe & Neal would kindly beat Arevalo & Pavic, it would guarantee Lloyd becoming doubles WR 1 ( and Julian WR 2 ).

Although the only way Lloyd will not become WR 1 is if Arevalo & Pavic retain their title here and Lloyd & Julian don't make the final, it would be nice to get it done and dusted at this QF stage.

Julian and Lloyd first set is close so far, what youd expect I guess. The italian pair are a good pairing at 6th in the Race, and lead 6-5 with J and L serving to stay in the set.

J & L really not looking great today - they must be exhausted to be fair - but hopefully they'll scrape through.

Well, 7-6 6-5 up, look solid. Not been a break yet, J and L havent even had a break point, the Italians just 2

Really good win, take that. One more match, lads. Unless Joe and Neal do a favour later!

Winning ugly is what champions do, well done boys. Won fewer points overall and significantly fewer return points, but won the ones that mattered.

Beautiful tennis from Joe & Neal! Made the (former) world number 1s look ordinary. I think, based on today's performances, we might see a reversal of the Canadian final this week. Huge congrats to Lloyd for his new number 1 spot as well :D

Fabulous, for Joe and Neal, great result and so good to see their form back after both having spells in the doldrums.

And, ditto, congrats to Lloyd on being the next World Number One!

Julian and Lloyd sadly went down, but Joe and Neal are a set up. May get to play Rajeev in the final

Gawd, they're hopeless. Were the beers on Lloyd last night?

'Fraid not:

SF:  Lorenzo Musetti & Lorenzo Sonego (ITA/ITA) CR 481 (247+234) defeated (5) Joe Salisbury & Neal Skupski CR 23 (12+11) by 4-6 6-3 [13-11]  bleh

Doubles is so random. Ram, now 41, has been struggling since splitting with Joe, and yet forms a new summer partnership with Mektic (who split from Venus), and they've reached the final in the their third tournament.

Musetti and Sonego have played together a few times but this is only their second final. Quality players though.

And to regain that form at a 1000 level event as well!
