Haniya Minhas (the top 2010 girl in Pakistan, promoted and sponsored by IMG) has appeared in a non-national LTA event in Hampshire. She recently beat Rosie Cho. Unusual choice of tournament for someone just visiting
LTA will be interested if shes a permanent fixture (although I do think theres stronger players than her already - including the 5 younger girls who are joining the national academy next month)
Shes got her own website if anyone wants to know more about her

I assume she still wears full body and hair covering tennis kit? Is she still very slim and small?

I've watched several of her matches and I agree that she's not one of the stronger players at the moment - but my feeling is that's because (or partly because) she's not been very well trained for the past couple of years i.e. everything went well in Dubai (it was Dubai, wasn't it, where the family were first based?) and then her level seems to have dropped markedly when they moved. However, with good coaching, a lot of her natural skills could be encouraged and put in place in a better game of tennis. I'd never heard that she had any connection to the UK. But maybe I'd missed that.

She played an ITF event in Liverpool.
She was decent, but not a standout

Thats what I thought when I saw her. There has been a lot of hype about her though. Probably because of where she has come from. Will be interesting to see if she is here to stay

I didnt see her at Liverpool but it was a good result against Rosie. Rosie was short listed for the national academy but I dont believe she was offered a place (shes not one of the 5 girls going anyway)
