Week 34 - US Open - Flushing Meadows, New York, NY, USA (hard) - MIXED DOUBLES

Everything you need to know about the new format, but were afraid to ask!  The last place I'd've expected to find such information is on the ATP site!    Sadly, Jack will be longer be involved, as his projected partner, Paula Badosa, has had to withdraw through injury.

Looks like Emma will be our only entrant then, although I don't think a) that she will play is certain - hello, says Andy - b) I guess there is an outside chance of one or more Brits playing; maybe Katie and AdM could get a wildcard, not sure if any of our mens doubles players could get a partner with crowd appeal to get one, or maybe Jack could re group and find a new partner?

Katie has taken a wildcard into Cleveland because she and Alex didn't get a spot here.

of course, forgetting the mixed is a week early. Joe and Neal and Jamie are also in Winston Salem next week, so any slim chance of them getting in as a wild card won't happen. It looks like there are still 2 wildcards left however, not sure if they have to come from the original entry list or can be new entrants subsequently putting their names forward?

As well as one pairing as direct entries, from Jack and Badosa pulling out, that leaves 3 slots to fill - highly unlikely to go to a Brit though

I was expecting a discussion about the entries to start around now - but was expecting to see it in the men's section - before Jack lost his partner.

There are quite a few players around that have been succesful in mixed doubles but didn't make it to the entry list. I just hope some of them are lucky, but I guess they will be chosen for crowd appeal and not ability !

It was originally posted in the mens section. But I pointed out Emma was our only player and SC moved it over here.

I think the USTA are making up the rules as they go along. So there's one direct entry and two wild cards to come. In theory they should promote the next direct entry and leave three wild cards but let's see.

Could Jack and Aryna pair with each other? Doubt any doubles players will get in, even the former No. 1s Arevalo/Siniakova.

As you say, pretty much anything goes, there are no rules in place, really.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the numbers made up with a few Americans.

Sinner and Navarro are also now out, leaving 4 places open in the 16 pair field, 2 direct entries and 2 wildcards.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_US_Open_%E2%80%93_Mixed_doubles

Hard to think that all the current players left will stay in.

According to that Wiki entry, Emma and Carlos are not in the draw and Katie and Alex are still entered. So o idea where they got their information from. Can't see anything on the USO website

I think youre reading it wrong - if you look at other information and click it, it has the wild card entries and shows Emma and Carlos.

for Katie and Alex, it says they entered but werent accepted into draw, that is what that list is showing

so 6 main draw acceptances and 6 wildcards currently , post drop outs.
