Some insight into what has been impacting Jakes form - nervousness and tension and serving lots of double faults - from the BBC report
But in recent months his form has been compromised by a nervous tension which is particularly damaging to his serve.
Asked how he can solve the issue, Fearnley said: "I'm not too sure. I guess it's helpful to know that even hitting all those double faults I can win the match that's a positive more than anything.
"There are good days and bad days, but in recent matches the doubles faults have been an issue.
Given his rather meteoric rise up until this summer, it's not particularly surprising he started feeling the pressure and became tense. His dip in form began at pretty much the same time as he began to have to defend points from 2024.
I seem to remember he didn't do well in the US last year because of an elbow injury, so hopefully he can relax a bit now he's got a good win despite not playing particularly well.
Feels like Jake maybe needs to have some counselling to help with that if he is struggling to manage it himself. Glad his game is still in there
Yes, it sounds like a ports psychologist is needed, but I bet they don't come cheap, especially with this ongoing issue one session's not going to cut it. It's not like he can hire one to travel with him like the top players could.
I guess the LTA must have some but I have no clue about how they would allocate time/funds.
Super pleased about the W for him, especially as the girls had such a bad day.

I'm not sure he will get much further because he meets Zverev next. But there's always hope...

Interesting re his mindset - in his interview he talks about Zverev match being another high pressure/tension situation he will need to cope with (presumably on a show court of some sort). Yet, I would have thought he should see it as a free hit - he has had big court matches with big names before at the slams (he seems to get those types of draws) and hoped he would see this as one he will cope with.
