That is a great result for Hamish, well done!! That is Hamish's best result in terms of opponents rank - he beat WR 180 at Wimbledon qualies.

What a super result for Hamish and he will be moving to another CH with hopefully another win or two to come.

In the pre Wimbledon rankings ( made the FQR at Wimbledon ) he was WR 545 on 67 points. He is now live ranked 422 on 107 points.

Wasn't able to be back to watch it, but having watched it on catch-up, it was a good test in a lively evening atmosphere with an enthusiastic Spanish crowd.

Hamish actually led 5-2 in final set, so it will have been an agonising sleep loser I'm afraid.

In his service game at 5-3, Hamish Led 15-0, then missed an easy put away at 15 all, and again at 15-40.

Then led 40-15 and had two more Ad game points in his service game at 5-5, but was undermined by a couple of double faults and couldn't quite get over the line.

A certain Rafa Nadal was watching the match and Hamish played well overall but will reflect on one that got away.

Ah, that's a bit of a sore one for Hamish.

Hopefully one to take on the chin, store any lessons he can from it, and then continue to progress.
