In the men's East sectional Roan Jones goes through easily 2 & 1 and in the women's victories for Daniela Piani 3 & 1 and Isa Lacy 1 & 4
In the south sectional win for Billy Blaydes but losses for Matt Rankin and Derrick Chen. Results from Will Jansen, Hugo Coquelin and Henry Jefferson still to come.
In the women's south, wins for Millie Bissett and Eva Shaw. Gabia Paskauskas comes from behind in the 2nd and 3rd sets to win an epic (it must have been close to 4 hours) 5-7 7-6 7-5 against Georgia Tech's No 1 (ranked 16). Millie and Gabia meet in the 2nd round - Millie and Eva also play Gabia in the doubles first round.
No luck in the Central sectional as Louis Bowden, Luc Koenig, Alex Okonkwo and Hep Oluwadare all lose.
In California for the West sectional, the women played doubles first with Jess Matthews+ moving on to the next round.
In the conference masters, Derrick Chen switched to play the sectionals and Raff Papajcik withdrew leaving just Zech Hamrouni as the sole Brit in singles with his result still to come

Zech lost his second round match at the conference masters. Had he have won he would have played No 1 Michael Zheng next so would have needed to pull off the shock of the season so far to have a chance of qualification anyway. He did win his doubles match. Thomas Giles+ as 3rd seed in doubles gets a bye in the opening round.
In the remaining opening round singles matches in the Sectionals, Hugo won in the South, Luca lost in the west.
For doubles 4th seed Luc Koenig with David Badenhorst were the only one of the teams with a British to progress in the central sectional. They next have a rematch against Ohio State's Carpico and Filin who beat them in the opening round of the All Americans. Bowden and Okonkwo both lost.
In the east sectional, Roan Jones+ and Ant Wright+ both progressed.
In the South sectional Freddy and Billy Blaydes made it a miserable day for Derrick Chen. Will Jansen+ as 2nd seeds also lost.
All 3 of our women in the Conference Masters doubles, Jemma Cave, Fran Davies and Paulina Jurkowska progressed.
Immi Haddad won her opening singles match in the west sectional but Hannah Read lost. The women's west sectional is the only one of the Sectionals being played indoors.
For doubles, the all British team of Millie and Eva defeated Gabia+ 7-6 6-4. Erin Pearce+ lost and Millie and Eva play Erin's conquerors in the next round.
At the east sectional, 2nd seeds Jasmine Conway+ won. But Isabelle Lacy with Maggie Navarro lost.
East Sectional - (MS) Roan Jones, (WS) Daniela Piani, Isabella Lacy, (MD) Roan Jones, Anthony Wright, (WD) Jasmine Conway
South Sectional - (MS) Billy Blaydes, Hugo Coquelin, WIll Jansen, Henry Jefferson (WS) Amelia Bissett, Gabia Paskauskas, Eva Shaw (MD) Freddy Blaydes, Billy Blaydes (WD) Amelia Bissett, Eva Shaw
Sorry, keen to keep on top of the college fall season, find it very interesting and less other action going on, so it helped me to try and summarise it - although with so many events, it is hard to see what is going on clearly!!
It seems the South is proving our most productive sectional by some way, do we tend to have more players heading to the southern colleges relative to the others?

I noticed from last year, we had success in the Conference Masters as noted in the November 2024 POM nominations
5. Savannah Dada-Mascoll - Being a member of the first doubles team from Appalachian State University women's tennis programme to ever qualify for the NCAA Championships by reaching the final of the ITA Conference Masters Championships which she and partner goes on to win.
6. Sofia Johnson - Dominant in winning the ITA Conference Masters Championships and qualifying for the NCAA Singles Championships.
Savannah has of course qualified for the NCAA finals in singles this year. Sofia is playing the pro tour now as noted by The Addict two posts above

Roan Jones is through to the QF with a 5 & 3 win. He is now 1 win away from making the NCAAs.
Dani Piani followed Isabelle on the same court and lost 4 & 1 to the 8th seed Rabman who is playing on home courts. Dani's 1st serve was off today with it seemingly missing most of them, losing all but 1 of her service games and losing her racket on one serve when it clattered the court on the follow through and flew out of her hand. She was very competitive when receiving though and there is potential there.
Gabia and Millie currently in the 2nd set with Gabia taking the first set on a tie break (7-1). Stream here (click on change camera and choose court 5)

Gabia defeats Millie 7-6(1) 6-3 Eva saves 2 MPs to defeat the 4 seed 6-4 2-6 7-5
Billy Blaydes defeated the No 1 seed Jack Loutit in the Southern regional 6-4 2-6 6-4 Will Jansen joins him in the QF with a 3&3 win. He awaits to see whether he will play Henry Jefferson in the QF. Hugo Coquelin lost 2 & 5
Neither of the 2 remaining singles went our way. Henry lost in 3 sets to prevent an all British match up with Will which would have given us a guaranteed qualifier to the NCAAs Immi Haddad was 4-0 up in the final set against the 3 seed but lost in a 3rd set tie break to end British interest in the women's west sectional.
With doubles having been played left in going into Saturday are East - Roan Jones (MS), Ant Wright (MD), Jasmine Conway (WD) South - Billy Blaydes (MS, MD), Freddy Blaydes (MD), Will Jansen (MS), Gabia Paskauskas (WS), Eva Shaw (WS) West - Luca Bluett (MD)
No British representation left in either the Central sectionals or the Conference Masters.
All those left in get 2 chances to qualify for the NCAAs. Win their next match and they qualify. Lose and they go into a playoff for the remaining places
