Neither of the 2 remaining singles went our way. Henry lost in 3 sets to prevent an all British match up with Will which would have given us a guaranteed qualifier to the NCAAs Immi Haddad was 4-0 up in the final set against the 3 seed but lost in a 3rd set tie break to end British interest in the women's west sectional.
With doubles having been played left in going into Saturday are East - Roan Jones (MS), Ant Wright (MD), Jasmine Conway (WD) South - Billy Blaydes (MS, MD), Freddy Blaydes (MD), Will Jansen (MS), Gabia Paskauskas (WS), Eva Shaw (WS) West - Luca Bluett (MD)
No British representation left in either the Central sectionals or the Conference Masters.
All those left in get 2 chances to qualify for the NCAAs. Win their next match and they qualify. Lose and they go into a playoff for the remaining places
Thanks for the updates, Lambda. Youd hope, given 6 get through in singles in each section and there are 8 left (24 of 32 total) and 3 pairs of 4 left (12 of 16 in doubles total), that chances are in our favour for a reasonable qualifying success rate over the weekend.
Gabia joins her sister in the NCAA finals and Roan also qualifies. Billy, Will and Eva have to go to the play-offs. Eva's opponent in the play-offs withdraw from her QF so we'll see if she is fit for the play-offs tomorrow, but Eva also looked like she might be carrying an injury at the end which might explain why she only won 1 more game from *5-3 in the 1st set.
East sectional QF: Roan Jones (UNC) defeated [8] Henrik Bladelius (Clemson) 4-6 6-1 6-2
South sectional QF: Billy Blaydes (Auburn) lost to Matic Kriznik (Alabama) 4-6 6-2 3-6 QF: [7] Will Jansen (Georgia) lost to Bryan Hernandez Cortes (Mississippi State) 5-7 3-6
QF: Gabia Paskauskas (Florida) defeated [3] Leyla Britez Risso (Tennessee) 6-4 6-4 QF: Eva Shaw (Florida State) lost to Ava Esposito (Auburn) 6-7 0-6
Lambda - asked elsewhere but do you think Savannah has a shout at the NCAA title?
In fact, do any of our other players get plaudits that might put them in the frame for a decent run?
No. That would be a surprise. I hope she can get to the quarter-finals for All American honours but getting any further than that would need a very kind draw. Stanford's Valerie Glozman is the favourite for the women's singles title and Michael Zheng to retain the men's title but both mens and womens draws are quite open this year.
I would say Luca and Henry and possibly Jasmine are our best hopes for a run along with Savannah. The others will be doing well to still be in after the 2nd round.

Thanks Lambda - Luca - Pow in the singles or Bluett in the dubs?
I think Luca Pow made a name for himself back in juniors, more so than the others here (he won the Nationals twice in 22/23) and so has a bit of pedigree to bring into his college career
