RE: British Tennis Forum September 2025 Player of the Month Award - Nominations thread

1. Cam Norrie - 4th round Roland Garros, quarter final Wimbledon and now 3rd round New York, again the last British man standing. Match of the tournament just now against Comesana, before taking Novak to 4 sets in round 3. Ive nominated Cam 3 times after each of those slams. Hopefully he gets more votes this time !

2. Hamish Stewart - 2 weeks in a row qualifying for and reaching R2 of ATP Challenger 75s ( Manacor and Cassis ), in the first beating the top seed Otto Virtanen WR 123 in straight sets for a best ever rankings scalp. Takes out his CH 442, being now live ranked 413.

3. Ruben Harris - won the US Open junior wheelchair doubles title with his Austrian partner, Max Taucher, for our only piece of silverware in the wheelchair tennis in New York. The junior events are only held here and in Paris, so a rare chance to win a big title. Ruben is playing senior events now and looks to be one to watch for the future.

4. Max Basing - for doing the double - winning singles and doubles titles at the M25 in Bali

5. Joe Salisbury/Neal Skupski - for reaching their second grand slam doubles final of the year and coming so close to glory at the US Open. Great start to their pairing and lets hope they get over the line soon, and get the title they deserve.

We have Alicia D on court now and Billy H later for two big finals in their seasons. Good luck to both!

I have added Max's M15 title from the first counting week for this month plus reflecting how much he will soar into the top 500 when the ranking points from these add in.

Thats a good add, Indy - adds a lot to his record for the month; and maybe more to come!

Btw, I know youre excited but its a list and not a lust!

6. Billy Harris - it may not have been the hardest set of opponents and it may have been a CH 75, but Billy had never won a title at Challenger level until now. In fact, he was the highest ranked player without a challenger title. But not anymore - Billy wins the Cassis Challenger, his first at this level and his ranking back to around 136 as a result. Nice one, Billy!

Ive feel bad we have 6 males and no females on the list - I dont follow the women enough to feel I know enough to nominate anyone but in general, we seem to either have a) very few women playing well or b) no followers of the womens game into PoM enough to want to nominate someone or not aware they can nominate someone

Its felt quite lopsided for a few months now apart from the very top of the game, hope we get a few women nominated as the month and rest of season progresses?

We are now halfway through the month, effectively. 6 nominations so far, some nice team play to come this weekend and next week, and some British action at all levels.

This is month 9 of 12, taking us to 3/4s of the way through the year.

If you have anyone you wish to nominate, just click quote on the latest list posted above, add an entry to the bottom which will be number 7, with the name and reason you nominated, tidy up the extraneous text by deleting what isnt needed, and re post.

Go on, give it a go. And remember, the top 2 in each month qualify for Player of the Season!!

A few of those listed might need a little upgrade after this weekend. Lets see what transpires! With 21 singles quarterfinalists, I think Jonny D noted, and DF listed, there may also be some new names in contention.

remember, anyone can nominate. Just take the list above by quoting this post, take out the narrative outside the nominations themselves, add in a 7th or more nominee and a reason and post a new list. It is so easy and anyone is welcome to do it at anytime!

Ive noticed we have had nominations from Tanaqui for a while, time to jump back on the bike, maybe?!

it feels like a "Grand Slam Finalists versus everything else" kind of a month doesn't it? Maybe Fran or Emily A can change that this week and/or if Alicia wins again she'd deserve a nod

lets see where we land - still half the month left, so a good run from someone could tip the balance.

and welcome to the board - if you get the urge, feel free to nominate at anytime and certainly vote!

Not sure if youve seen the way PoM works and the Player of the Season process, which will be at end of the season - it all sort of hangs together, at least in my brain!

Max going for his third singles title in 3 weeks

Billy and Alicia and Charles their second in two

Liam his second in 3

Some players quietly doing a decent month!

For nominations, dont think youre limited to players you think will win player of the month. Its more to list those with a shout - a shout out for what theyve done. It may be one thing or more, its recognition of a job well done.

Let the end of month vote decide who should win!
