Honestly from what I saw Julian & Lloyd didn't do a heck of a lot wrong, their opponents just played a bit of a blinder.
Hopefully this just makes them hungrier for the Asian swing; they're only losing 90 points so not a huge issue. And gives Luke, Neal and Joe a chance to be our third GS winner of the year ;)

But can be overtaken on the team rankings, if they're looking to secure the year-end No. 1 team ranking, which surely is a goal.
Neither pair came close to breaking serve (Julian and Lloyd won only 15 points on return) so was always going to be a crap shoot.
L64: (13) Luke Johnson & Sander Arends (NED) CR 55 (31+24) defeated Mattia Bellucci & Fabian Marozsan (ITA/HUN) CR 624 (288+336) by 2 & 4
L64: (7) Joe Salisbury & Neal Skupski CR 25 (15+10) defeated (WC) George Goldhoff & Reese Stalder (USA/USA) CR 209 (101+108) by 3 & 4

L32: (7) Joe Salisbury & Neal Skupski CR 25 (15+10) vs (WC) Maxwell Exsted & Cooper Woestendick (USA/USA) UNR (0+927)
More surnames used as first names! The WCs generally ply their trade on the Futures circuit. That said, they did for Goffin & Müller by 0 & 1!
They are the USTA Boys National Champions. Woestendick is a US College student having enrolled a semester early in January and was JPJ's doubles partner at TCU in the spring college season.

Thanks, Lambda. My comment was an attempt to enlighten JonH, who'd said earlier in the thread:
All US wildcards - be interesting to see how they go, not a name I recognise in them
I don't follow developments on the US college circuit, but I do see certain names crop up in the US Futures events when they're drawn against one or other of our lads, especially in the doubles, which is why they were familiar to me, Woestendick's in particular, & not to mention Brandon Holt, Ethan Quinn, Trey Hilderband & Patrik Trhac.
Thanks both / to be fair , players like Brandon Holt, Colton Smith, obviously Mackenzie Macdonald, and Ethan Quinn I do know of; but many are new to me. Thanks for the insights and Ill follow more closely now.
i love Marcus. They just won the first set and I'm going to stay up and see it through; but they have already cheered me up a bit after a dreadful day for Raducanu close followers
Oh, I forgot it was three sets, I might not stay the distance.
