A nervy end. Ruby came from 1-3 down in the decider to 5-3 40*-0 but needed 5 matchpoints to get over the line against a player who was making a lot of balls
Finally at the 11th time of asking Oli has a grand slam singles win He was behind for much of the third set, but once he levelled at 4-4 he looked the stronger, and played an extraordinary tiebreak, winning all 10 points (only the last one was slightly fluky) to win 4-6 6-2 7-6(0)
None of the British girls playing together in doubles
(which I like - there's plenty of time to play together at NTC organised get-togethers)
Hannah is with Junior Wimbledon Singles Champion, Pohankova
Mika has Kristina Penickova (who's won a lot of doubles titles with twin, Annika, who's injured at the moment)
Ruby has a play, with Nilsson
Brooke is with Cvetkovic
And Allegra with Tupitsyna
I see Hannah and Mika and their partners are first and second seeds, respectively. Could the junior girls be our best chance at some sort of silverware this US Open?!
Interested to see Oli isnt in the boys doubles, thought he would be after his Wimbledon final appearance.
Is this Olis last junior slam given his age?
Yes it is his last slam. Success in doubles this year (2 semis as well as the Wimbledon final) hasn't helped his singles, so I am not surprised that he has opted out of doubles here.
