Lea has gained in confidence from Mika's erratic play and takes the second set 6-1. Mika needs to impose herself at the start of set 3 as in set 1 - the match is on her racket
Absolutely
Mika lost focus, and was quickly 0-3 down
And then, with Lea playing with a bit more oomph, sort of gave up on the set
She needs to come out, really on it, in this third set
Sadly set 3 continued in the same vein as set 2 and Mika loses 0-6 6-1 6-1 From the little I saw of Hannah's match Jeline Vandromme will be a strong favourite for the title.
Well we managed another two girls in the semis this year. Mika got her best string of results for a while to get to the semis. Hannah reaching the semis for the first time. So all in all the girls did well. Think maybe Mika found her fifth match in a row a bit draining. Hope we see them both in the W75 in Wrexham later this year.
At Wimbledon it was remarkable to have 2 Bulgarian boys, Ivan Ivanov (eventual winner) and Alexander Vasilev, in the semis. Here they have gone one better and will play each other in the finals - the first all Bulgarian junior grand slam final. If Ivan wins he will become the first since 2012 to win the Wimbledon US Open double (Grigor Dimitrov also did it in 2008 while another Bulgarian - Magdalena Maleeva - actually managed to win three junior grand slams in the same year)
In the girls final Lea Nilsson was twice a break up on Jeline Vandromme, but the Belgian managed to force a tie-break, and then ran away with the match 7-6(2) 6-2
Ivan Ivanov completed the Wimbledon + US Open double, winning 7-5 6-3
Shows you that you can start late as a junior, not really focus on tennis, and then suddenly put it all together
She won, but Lea Nilsson put up a good fight
And well done to Hannah who lost to the champion, and matched her in many areas (but not all )
Jeline is born 2007 so this is her done with juniors - we'll wait to see about the others but Hannah certainly implied in her interview that she was done with juniors (however, the kids love going over to Australia so you never know )

Bet Hannah and Mika play Junior Wimbledon next year. Making that their last fling at junior level.

Yes, very likely. In the same way Mimi did this year, although practically nothing else in juniors.
And the 'boss' of juniors at the LTA will certainly put a fair bit of pressure on them.
And, why not? It's your home event, it's down the road, it's the whole experience for GB players.
The only think that might prevent that is if they've done very well in adults and are seriously well ranked - now wouldn't that be nice ?
Annabel Croft reached the third round of senior Wimbledon and won junior Wimbledon the same year. A win's a win, particularly if you are able to withstand the pressure of being one of the favourites.

Yes, although I don't think Annabel Croft would be an overwhelming inspiration for Hannah
And what happened 30 years ago is maybe not so relevant to how juniors view things nowadays

Hopefully Hannah's career will be a little longer than Annabel's was.
I would expect Hannah to play Australia in the juniors. She will still be 16 which restricts her to 12 senior tournaments so it will be good practice against decent opposition, in a situation where she is limited in the number of competitive matches available to her. Mika will be 17 so so will have more senior matches she can play so is more doubtful.
