Week 39 - WTA1000 Beijing, China - Hard

Brilliant win, but from what I've seen from her this tournament, I'm not surprised by the result, just very pleased.

I don't believe in Jinxes but JonH could you delete your post and lets pretend it never happened ..

 Ha - really?!

I cant edit Christ's post in response which includes it but I have changed my original post to take out the offending statement and ask a question of what others think of Noskova. Hope that satisfies the witches out there!

Anyway, betting odds are Kartal 6/4 vs Noskova 8/15.

Just 6/4 against Sonay being in a WTA 1000 SF. How good would that be?!

I've just watched the highlights and so good to see Sonay mixing it up much more than she used too, used to be a bit of a slug fest.
Let's hope she keeps on improving...

With Swiatek out, getting to the final is starting to look possible. I initially thought that would be enough to pass Emma to become the GB number 1 but it would need a few more points. Still it looks as if Emma could have a rival for the GB number 1 slot before long.

Great result for Sonay, just what she needed after a disappointing US swing and dropping her Monastir points. Hopefully she can get back into the Top 50 again before the end of the year.

Liv is on court tomorrow at 6 am our time, a nice little warm up for Sonay who follows at nb 8 am our time.

Amazing to see back to back Brits at this stage of a big event

Thirteen games dropped in three matches having been winless on the tour since Wimbledon. Think BJKC did her the power of good.

I think her game is also suited more to slow surfaces in contrast to the relatively fast hard courts of the US swing.

Any sign of Mr Bates over there ? smile

Have finally watched the match ( all the points which is rather what matters ) vs Andreeva.

As said earlier, she was certainly mixing it up more than I've often seen but both were still certainly giving it a right belt a lot of the time with many rallies really just prolonged by the slowness of the court. With Sonay's movement and hitting like that, I'd say no reason she can't have good success on faster courts.

Jeremy is most certainly there. In a separate clip that I saw, he looked very pleased at the end.

Does anyone have a link to where I can watch the match back in full?

There was a mention of a replay on Sonay's thread.

It was on Sky. Looks as if they only have a 7 minute highlight programme on stream right now, as the match doesn't seem to be available on catch-up. Maybe another provider has it ?
