Wastes multiple game points. Some horrible errors now.

1-4*

Last week was a half step forward, but this is a giant leap backwards. Really really poor display after a good set and a half. Just totally panicked and fell apart the moment it got difficult.

Loses 3-6 6-4 6-1. Yuk. Her ranking is basically held together from two events which will drop off in the next few weeks. Just been such a tough year

Q1: Katie Boulter (GBR) [3] WR 54 lost to Victoriya Tomova (BUL) Alt WR 115 6-3 4-6 1-6

R1: Emma Raducanu (GBR) WR 32 v Ann Li (USA) WR 47

The winner plays the winner of 9th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova v Victoria Mboko.
If she wins that then she would likely get another chance to play Pegula and maybe get more match points hopefully to convert one this time.

Really struggling at the moment. Her serve has pretty much broken down and without a good serve her game is not at the top level. She has looked tired and fed up at times too. The winter break can't come fast enough for Katie.

Doubles

R1:- Tereza Mihalikova (SVK) / Olivia Nicholls (GBR) CR64 (34+30) v Maya Joint (AUS) / Victoria Mboko (CAN) CR612 (51+561)

Muhammad and Schuurs [5] are likley L16 opponents - and their nemesis Ostapenko and Hsieh [3] in the QF

Why no Sonay in the end?

She must have withdrawn - and has flown home.

Shes still in Wrexham list, presumably? But also out of Osaka qualies?

I can still seeing her playing Wrexham to try and defend her Shrewsbury title points. But still an interesting to choice to play BJKC and only one event on the Asian swing. However she's always marched to the beat if her own drum and working for her.

I imagined the Beijing event went to close to Wuhan for her to feel she wouldnt be tired/injury prone when she got there? And then decided no point hanging for Osaka?

There was no way she was going to play first round Wuhan qualies the day after losing Beijing semis (if she had even made the draw cut, I'm not sure if she was hovering around the cut-off based on the entry ranking).

Heading home makes sense if she isn't intending playing Ningbo/Hong Kong etc...

Sonay must be getting close to the point where she has to play mandatory events or carry zero point tournaments in her ranking.

Just checked live rankings. She has a mandatory zero for Montreal - and a 10 point counter/non-counter for Cincinnati (different lists on three live-ranking sites). Tomorrow's rankings should clarify it.

 Sonay has withdrawn from Wrexham.

That's a pity. She joins Heather, Harriet, Brooke and Naiktha who have all withdrawn for various reasons. I looked at the list a couple of hours ago, and she's withdrawn since.
