SF: (LL) Harry Wendelken WR 446 defeated Iņaki Montes (ESP) WR 370 by 2 & 4
Final: (NG) Maxim Mrva (CZE) WR 418 vs (LL) Harry Wendelken WR 446
Let's hope that Harry's luck doesn't run out now!
Mrva of course beat Giles Hussey 3 and 1 in the last 8. Hes a next gen entry, I see, did ok in juniors without being earth shattering it seems, and won an M15 last year.
Wendelken is currently serving for the first set at 5-4, the last four games having all being breaks of serve leading to a frustrated Mrva smashing his racket to bits on court.
Finally there's a hold of serve and Wendy takes the first set 6-4.
Things are getting tetchy, players not happy, there has been some swearing, the umpire is telling Mrva off and has given him a warning. Boxing gloves might be needed to settle this one!
Harry was in the bog whilst all this umpire Mrva chat was happening and it continued on H's return. There is more needle here than on a porcupines back.
H block's out Mrva's serve to go 2-1 up in the second. Mrva's still got plenty to say for himself and is now having is forearm rubbed up by the lady physio.
Umpire is now calling for a hand held umbrella for Harry, even though it's not raining, plus towels. It's all going off here you don't know what you are missing! Ice bags now!
For once the cloud clap, that shows you how poor it's been. Mrva chuntering again, Harry holds for 3 all and wants a racket restrung to 54/55 and now there is some string controversy, all the local cats are in hiding.
The TV coverage is excellent with multiple cameras, some replays and close ups of frustrated players whilst the crowd bathes in the shade of the main stand, so well done to the Greeks for that!
