Further to my post re Katie's ranking at 20/10 in the wewk 42 Osaka thread:
"I see that Katie has got a mandatory Ningbo 500 zero pointer and the 30 points from this Osaka 250 for week 42.
So she drops 60 points to 1018 points at 20/10/25 with her Ningbo 60 points from last year dropping out and the 0 for Ningbo 2025 coming in. The 30 points from here are a non counter
I assume she hasn't played a required amount of WTA 500s. She now has 3 mandatory zero counters for this year - Doha 1000, Dubai 1000 and Ningbo 500."
...after her exit here she is now shown as : Live ranked 79 at 27/10 on 877 points - i.e. 1018 - 195 + 54 ( her best non counter ), and Projected ranked 94 at 03/11 on 744 points - i.e. 877 - 163 + 30 ( her next best non counter )
That's all her points off for this year and both LTR and OER are are showing her end of year points as 744. Looking like it might yet get kind of tight for Aus Open MD direct entry. Could maybe do with getting more than 30 points next week in the Hong Kong 250.
( Sonay and Fran both have over 900 points for this year so well in the Aus Open MD along with Emma )

Six breaks of serve in the first set, just one in the second and one mini-break in the MTB. Closer than last week, but I didn't think they ever looked like winning.
Rybakina in a win or bust match next - beat Mboko in the last 8 here and she qualifies for Tour Finals; lose and Andreeva gets the slot (assuming she takes it).

Thanks Jon. I see that it's very close #6 to #9 with a real drop off after that. So, if all are willing and able, one of Rybakina and Andreeva is going to be rather unlucky.
I read that Andreeva's absence from Tokyo was due to visa issues!

Well, Rybakina got the win and the final place and the 8 player field is set, subject to withdrawals.
Andreeva ended up falling just 6 points, 6, short of Paolini who is 8th now, getting 4319 points to 4325. That is 1/700th or so away, 0.14% away from qualifying. If that was due to a visa issue, boy thats tough!
Seems like she only applied for the visa some 36/48 hours before hand when she thought she needed to play there to get into the Finals- I dont know how they organise or manage these things and whether WTA help, but that seems v touch and go!
Presumably the WTA and ATP have some sort of assistance programme or is it just left to the player and their team? And presumably the management agencies have some support process?
