Week 43 - ITF W100 Wrexham, Great Britain - Hard (Indoor)

I'll be watching on BBC i player for the rest of the week.

They have two automated cameras down the side and a static overhead.

What a weird set.
Mimi won the opening game comfortably, then lost 5 on the bounce and the won 6 on the bounce

Second set pretty odd as well. Last time I checked Mimi was 0-3 down now  6-5

The Lithuanian bottled it. Double break up in the second as well

Mimi will take the win and the points - the draw is wide open.

Ella is up a set as well

Ella through as well

Lily is well up on the top seed. The only other seed left is Harmony Tan

Well done Lily - very good win against the top seed. Ponchet was poor for a set and a half, but started to look like a top seed towards the end of the match.
Four GB ladies in last 8.

PS Eden was very good as a co-commentator

Agree about Eden. She was commentating yesterday as well and I was impressed.

Wish she'd speak a little louder or have her mic turned up though! Really hard to hear her on this match (which is a good one with Mika just sneaking it 6-4).

Mika on course to do the double over Marni. First set 6-4, and just broken serve to love at the start of the second

Its not Eden, but i agree - very quiet.

The match is such a high level from both players

Sorry you're right it's not. Was hard to tell at that volume!

Marni with her back to the wall gets a break to trail *2-4 second set.

Mika marches on - another impressive performance.

Looking at the draw, there is only Harmony Tan left of the seeds.
Possibility of all four GB girls making the semi finals.
Three will be favourites.

That's the first time I've been able to watch Mika on high resolution TV and so watched quite a bit of the match. I hadn't appreciated how good she is. Very impressive

Great results! Happy Mika came through that, even though I think Marni needed the win more - it's just good to see Mika's continued success.

Now in the QFs we have a 16 year old, 18 year old, 20 year old and Lily as the veteran. There seems to be an exciting push up from a lot of players in the 300-700 range over the past few weeks. Great to see!
