Arevalo and Pavic have pulled out as top seeds, not sure why. Arneodo and Vacherot, the Monagasque Musketeers, replace them as alts.

Helps Julian and Lloyd in their pursuit for top spot and Lloyd and Henry could now overtake them for 3rd spot.

thank you - I had no idea - I assume Monaco went to Monagasque and not the Mone (accent above the e but no idea how you do that!) !

French demonyms (nouns & adjectives formed from place names) often don't work that way, so it's wrong to assume.  As far as the accent's concerned, if it's your 'phone, you could try holding down the "e" key & seeing whether it gives you the "é" option.

Got it, thank you! Although knowing how to do it and when to do it are different challenges!

It seems the serving nerves hit Jake again , 11 double faults and the BBC reporter calling out this issue of nerves again.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/articles/c1wlp5gl8qno

Jake seemed to be improving recently, I wonder if he has someone working with him on this issue or is going it alone. Do the LTA provide access to anyone to help with the mental side of the game?

 biggrin

You're not wrong .....

Anything to do with names of places (and people who come from those places) are weird though and often don't follow normal pronunciation rules (just as in English - think Worcester, Leicester, etc)

(The place up the road from me at the moment is called Le Pouget - which is pronounced Pougette - even though it 'should' be Pougé under normal rules, like cachet, say)

And someone who comes from Glasgow is not a Glasgowgian - the Monaco thing is a bit the same

That all makes sense and will make me less harsh on those Americans that come over here and mash up our place names!!

I missed this yesterday, disappointing really. Presumably Luke and Sander are giving Metz or Athens a go next week and then I wonder if they will try and play a couple of challengers before the season ends? Feels like they could use the practice together if they are sticking it out?

Not that he would have got in here, but not seen Jamie Murray on the entry lists recently? I know he is going through a divorce, not sure if that is impacting him at all, or what his longer term doubles partner (he doesn't seem to have one just now) and playing plans are?

Interesting - I had commented above about Paris low bounce favouring Cam, maybe. It seems the new venue has a new surface and it is a higher, grippier bouncing one and slightly slower. Cam still fancies it though

After dismantling Norrie at SW19, Alcaraz currently leads their Lexus ATP Head2Head series 5-2, but the Briton has reason to believe this time around. Players have noted a noticeable change in court speed a factor Norrie believes could bring his heavy topspin forehand into play.

For sure I like it. I remember last year it was so quick I couldnt make too many balls, Norrie said of the conditions. It suits my game well and the ball's bouncing up a little bit more than I remember. It was always pretty low here before, so thats really good for my forehand and I can get some good revs on it.
