And Cam's the winner!

L32:  Cameron Norrie WR 31 defeated (1) Carlos Alcaraz (ESP) WR 1 by 4-6 6-3 6-4  biggrin

Right time of the season to play him!  One of two WCs/cousins, Rinderknech or Vacherot, in the last 16...

Preview of the match on the ATP site.  Includes comments on the speed of the court this year compared with last.

Interesting - I had commented above about Paris low bounce favouring Cam, maybe. It seems the new venue has a new surface and it is a higher, grippier bouncing one and slightly slower. Cam still fancies it though

After dismantling Norrie at SW19, Alcaraz currently leads their Lexus ATP Head2Head series 5-2, but the Briton has reason to believe this time around. Players have noted a noticeable change in court speed a factor Norrie believes could bring his heavy topspin forehand into play.

For sure I like it. I remember last year it was so quick I couldnt make too many balls, Norrie said of the conditions. It suits my game well and the ball's bouncing up a little bit more than I remember. It was always pretty low here before, so thats really good for my forehand and I can get some good revs on it.

"still" fancies it though ?!  Sounds like you fancied the previous one rather more than Cam did

Cam certainly fancied that one!

I hope Seagull got to watch that one in person!

Court was apparently so slow and Alcaraz made loads of errors but Cam outplayed him and took advantage.

I certainly did!  Amazing atmosphere. Crowd really got behind Cam in the end.

Also saw Joe and Neal plus loads of other good tennis. Would recommend. The arena is massive.

I'm saying nothing re that, Jon

Missed it all I am afraid. But brilliant to come in to. Cam Norrie, slow court master.
