Week 44 - ITF W75 Glasgow, Great Britain - Hard (Indoor)

Not the most exciting field for a home event really. And not particularly friendly draws either!

Mimi v Clervie - ouch...
They met once in juniors, with Clervie winning on clay in 3
Ella and Marni played each other here last year with Marni winning in straight sets.

Some interesting non-GB players though

THere's 19 year-old Quevedo who used to play for the USA and now plays for Spain

And 20 year-old Costoulas who was #2 in the world in juniors a couple of years ago and hasn't found moving to adults the most easy thing in the world

At least GB gets one win, whatever happens, with Ella v Marni

It's definitely a tough ask though

Ruby 3-0 up in the final set.

It's back to *3-2 now

Ruby has been playing well - playing her own game, a few too many UEs in the first set, which got her a bit exasperated

But very close now

Yikes. Got there in the end though! Well done after missing (and to be honest blowing in a couple of cases) her opportunities to close out earlier.

Super stuff, great achievement!

Ruby did what Ranah couldn't quite do last week against the same player.

Fantastic result. Getting over the line is always difficult so this shows a great deal of perseverance.

The serve at 5-5 made all the difference
She'd been 5-3 up
Lost 2 points
It was all horribly nervy from both
And then Ruby nailed her serve at 5-5 and set herself up for the match :)

 Well done Ruby!

Not much in between odds for Alicia's match.
The Italian was 2nd seed last week and went out in the first round

Certainly shows that greater seed depth here compared to the Wrexham W100. Rosatello seeded 2nd with a 206 ranking and now just 8th with a similarish 210 ranking.

*5-5 ( 2 breaks each ), 10/11 each in the betting.

I've only seen Alicia twice.
Once as a junior with a reputation and she lost in the first round, then last week when she was very inconsistent.

I'm not quite sure what to make of her game...
