Illness apparently.  ( should know better than using X as a source  !)

Nope - injury seems the more convincing reason - perhaps her old foot injury not quite healed?

Katie 6-7(4) 1-6

From Katie serving for the first set at 5-4 Naomi stopped making errors and just concentrated on getting everything back and waiting for Katie to make a mistake or give her an easy put away. Katie had few weapons to trouble Naomi.

Katie lost 6-7(4) 1-6 Pretty good effort, first set was close, second set I thought Swan was struggling a bit with the heat, and the exertion. But Osaka didn't have it all her own way. I think Swan will take confidence from that match.

Great win for Billy; disappointing to hear about Emma. Like to hear more on what happened to her?

Win the doubles in three. I always quite like Tim's advice from the corner here - he gave Liv a few quite useful pointers.

Emma was watching the doubles I noticed.

Tim said Emma was very close to playing but given that we play tomorrow I doubt she will feature.

Good win for Billy and that should be 25 ranking points for a group stage win over a player ranked 51 to 100. And pretty good looking effort by Katie.

Pity about Emma's injury issue. Now whether she plays or not, it looks less likely that we will beat Greece and advance further

I didnt watch the match but given that Osaka lost easily to Sakkari, I dont think I would read a lot into this, but nice for Katie S. Mimi maybe could have got closer but the next ladies singles might be tougher. I hope Emma is able to play.

Weighing up the game styles, I think Katie's style of shotmaking tennis probably had a better chance of pushing Osaka close. Huge fan of Mimi but my current sense is that her current counterpunching game might be a little too lightweight against the top 20
