Mimi is also playing Trnava this week, so I would assume that if her or Lily do well, then it could improve both of their ranking points. Amarni is also playing Trnava, but I assume she is probably too far out to be in contention for an Aussie Open spot. Katie S retired in the first round of Sydney, so no points for her.
Mimi lost heavily this morning, so her chances are fading fast. Marni has just won her first round match though.

Being pernickety, 1 point each for Mimi and Katie S. But yes that's neither here nor there re Aus Open Q.
Marni, with 216 points at the start of the week, drops 20 points this week ( from SF here last year ) and a total of 18 more points over the following 2 weeks.

All three have counters this week though, Mimi and Katie because they didn't have a full set, and Marni replaces a one-pointer with 6 . Very small steps .... (backwards for Marni !)
Off topic, so far this week we have eight women winners in the main draw round one, with two still to play. It's a pity that Mimi and Katie aren't among them.
ITF world tennis tour posted a fabulous Instagram montage of the progress that Katie Swan has made since April, winning 4 tournaments and rising from being unranked to now 280 in the world. The post is entitled "Katie Swan's Incredible 2025 Resurgence". It seems quite a big build up, only to then not be given a chance to shine at the Slam. Just saying.

Hmm, it's been great to see her back doing so well. Tbh though I'm surprised that they are making out her rise to be quite so Incredible. I'd say we here at least recognise why she was unranked and also recognise how very talented she already was for a long time, you probably at least as much as most.
So I kind of question how Incredible it has been once she has been able to step on to court and get matches in.
If saying she deserves an Aus Open Q WC, as looks quite likely she would need, in a world free of home country bias for Slam WCs there is perhaps an argument, with also having done well in Aus in the months leading up to the Open. But it won't be happening.
She wont be getting a qualifying WC maybe if Australia had no one else to give one to, but that is not the case. Katie played 64? matches this year plus the 3 at pre qualifying so although she has had issues with her back she has managed to play (and win) a lot more matches than most, if not all, the other British Women.

I dont think Katie S. will be playing the AO in qualies unless she switches her allegiance to Oz! I thought Mimi was our best shot or Lily, but not too disappointed that Mimi has slipped away as she has only been full time on the tour for a couple of months and too early to find her feet. Lily should really be in there. So Im not to hopeful TBH.

SC posted this interesting article in Katie B's individual thread largely regarding the "body or ranking" choice Katie feels she is having to make in the coming weeks.

My reading of the article was that Katie knows she should choose body and will but feels that the ranking deadline date causes her this dilemma. My feeling is she will choose body. If shes rested and fit she will get through qualies.
If Lily wins at Trnava, then she could well make qualifying, I'd have thought (though not sure if she has any more points to come off. One more win would put her up to 304 points and to win the final would be 321. Even 304 would be getting pretty close, I think.
