Canada are the weakest in the group

So, hopefully, we'll have a nice 2-0 lead here after the singles (and Edie can get a match )

Hollie lost (again)
So we rely on the doubles to see who wins.

Hmm, not so good.

C'mon then our doubles pair, whoever they have judged as the best for the job in the here and now.

Hollie and Megan see out the win 6-1 7-6(4) though they were up 5-3 in the second set. France lead Australia 2-0, winning both singles in straight sets, so France (who we play tomorrow) and GBR make the quarter-finals. Tomorrow's match decides who will be seeded.

RR2

GBR 2 Canada 1

Megan Knight beat Lily Rochon 6-2 6-2
Hollie Smart lost to Andrea Cabio 2-6 3-6
Knight/Smart beat Cabio/Demers 6-1 7-6(4)

Moral victory for Canada given they played all three of their squad

Megan won her singles 3 and 3, Hollie is a set down in hers.

Out of interest, I realise Hollie is number one as she is ranked higher in the Under 18 girls world rankings (presume that is why?) but who is actually the better player of Megan and Hollie?

Megan wins over Cindy Langlais to give the girls a brilliant start against the French.

Hollie has a big ask as she faces Ksenia Efremova

so it might all depend again on the doubles.

Hollie lost 6-3 7-5 which was a decent score against a top player so it does depend on the doubles which is about to start. Both nations field their two singles players.

Megan suffers her first loss in singles or doubles, so GBR ends up unseeded against one of the group winners in the quarter-finals

RR3

GBR 1 France 2

Megan Knight beat Cindy Langlais 6-2 6-3
Hollie Smart lost to Ksenia Efremova 3-6 5-7
Knight/Smart lost to Efremova/Langlais 5-7 1-6

It all ended exactly as expected at the start of the week

Group C

France
GB
Australia
Canada

Meg did well today - Cindy is a decent player, thought highly of, given a wildcard into Roland Garros adult qualis

Hollie has been having a pretty poor run :( - she posted a decent score today against a top-10 player - but really should have done better in her other matches, at least one of them
