RE: British ITF/Challenger events 2026

The next GB events are Nottingham and Roehampton in March.

I suspect there is a dilemma on both the mens & womens side.

Men - should they put challengers on or 25k - enough GB men in both categories
Women - should they put 50/75k or 35k - depends when Lily, Heather and Jodie are fit

Some challengers added to the mens calendar on the ATP calendar

Week 27 - Nottingham 3 ATP 50 on grass

Week 33 - Roehampton 1 ATP 50 on hard

Week 34 - Roehampton 2 ATP 50 on hard

Not sure if women's ITF or WTA125 events will be played in GB at the same time as any of these?

In fact, on the womens side, there are evets:

July - ITF 50 in Nottingham and ITF 35 Aldershot
August - ITF 50 in Roehampton and ITF 35 in Aldershot again

The men also have an M25 in Aldershot in August

Sorry for going a bit OT. Not sure if this has been picked up on the forum. But I notice the week before Wimbledon Qualifying that Dublin is hosting a Grass CH75 tournament. That week Nottingham hosts a CH125.
Will be interesting to see what that does for entry rankings. Dont remember the last time another country has hosted a Grass challenger in the build up to Wimbledon.

The women also have a grass court W50 event in Hurghada (Soma Bay) in Egypt pre Wimbledon.

I guess the Dublin event points won't impact rankings in terms of Wimbledon MD or qualies entry lists or seedings (as Wimbledon qualies seedings will be based on week before?) and but it may give one or two Brits missing out on Nottingham entry another chance for a good grass run and to make an impact with the wild card selectors?

Just a reminder - Wimbledon MD entry ranking date is 18/05 and Q date 25/05. So these events won't affect the entry lists.

Putting aside my surprise there's grass courts in Egypt, a W50 sounds like exactly the kind of event the LTA should be Putting on. Surbiton would be good. Be interesting to see if any of our girls go over there. It'd be a bad reflection on the LTA if they have to go to Egypt for grass court play.

Yeah I have thought since the scrapping of Surbiton on the main Pre Wimbledon tournament. Could they put one on first week of the French at CH50 level.

I would love it if anything at all came back to Surbiton

But I know there was some political tug-of-war at the club between the tennis people and the Padel people

A lot of them were quite pleased to lose the W100

However, as with all clubs, a bit of bribery with extra Wimbly tickets would almost certainly do the trick - as one club President said, it's the only reason any of them ever play ball, so to speak

Theyve put the CH50 event in Nottingham in week 2 of Wimbly, which always feels a strange time - players out of or not in Wimbledon thinking of hardcourts by that stage - a CH50 in week one of the FO would make much more sense, whatever the venue for it. Given the weeks that follow are Birmingham, London, Ilkley, Nottingham, Eastbourne, I would have thought the North West would be a good venue to have something, Didsbury for example, or Liverpool where they play that exho - Calderstones or some such?

But Surbiton also fine.
