And de Minaur goes through as Alcaraz wins in straight sets and in the process secures year end number one.
De Minaur plays Sinner in the semis, Alcaraz plays the winner of Zverev and FAA, tomorrow evenings match. Come on, FAA!

I kind of enjoyed this ridiculous way of explaining the scenarios that the atp put on their site:
Singles BJORN BORG GROUP qualification scenarios after the completion of the 2nd round of the event's group stage: 1) Regardless of score, if J. SINNER defeats B. SHELTON and A. ZVEREV defeats F. AUGER-ALIASSIME, then J. SINNER wins the group and A. ZVEREV qualifies 2nd.
2) Regardless of score, if J. SINNER defeats B. SHELTON and F. AUGER-ALIASSIME defeats A. ZVEREV, then J. SINNER wins the group and F. AUGER-ALIASSIME qualifies 2nd.
3) Regardless of score, if B. SHELTON defeats J. SINNER and A. ZVEREV defeats F. AUGER-ALIASSIME, then J. SINNER wins the group and A. ZVEREV qualifies 2nd.
4) Regardless of score, if B. SHELTON defeats J. SINNER and F. AUGER-ALIASSIME defeats A. ZVEREV, then J. SINNER wins the group and F. AUGER-ALIASSIME qualifies 2nd.
Which unless I'm missing something could just say Sinner has already won the group and the winner of FAA and Zverev will come second. Lol! Not really doing themselves any favours there surely. Maybe trying to hide the fact that Sinners match with Shelton is a dead match?

The Saturday schedule will have Joe/Neal v Julian/ Lloyd in the evening slot; if they get through Henry and Harri will play the early lunchtime slot. The Italians make up the two first/afternoon sessions matches, with Sinner playing his singles then and Alcaraz in the Saturday night slot.
Harri on his blog confirms that Henry and he will definitely continue next year and hopefully beyond. The Neal and Joe and Harrison / King splits starting rumours of who and when for next season. Harri nipping it in the bud emphatically.

Ha Ha, how ridiculous !!!!!! We're maybe lucky they didn't go into different score scenarios !!
I did notice that the live-tennis ranking site had for a long while updated all the matches in the group but had Ben Shelton still active with his possible future points including title winning points. They've kind of sussed it now though. Ben, you are out.

I always wondered how sites like Live-tennis or OER do their updates and forecasts on future rankings etc. Is there a person sitting there doing it manually and checking ranking rules, non counters , mandatories etc by player or is there some algorithm written - and is there a company out there that has written the algorithm and sells it to these sites, cos it seems inefficient to rewrite it for every site that updates rankings?
Yes, there was a video review and a big discussion re the point at 4-4. I just caught it during the discussion but seemed to be that all was not clear about the bounce of ball and racket contact near a baseline. The point had been given to H&H and the umpire didn't think there was sufficient video evidence to overturn the call. Pavic in particular disagreed. But it stood and they played on.
Two contentious reviews. First whether they hit the ball, before the point was completed(it was behind the base line)and the second for hindering by speaking before the point was complete
The second is very rare, but i saw it for the first time on Mondsy evening at Liverpool when it was appealled and seen by the supervisor and the point was replayed.

I was sure, as above, that LTR had finally correctly booted Ben Shelton out. But looking just now, he is shown as still in ( with maximum points as if he went on to win the title ).
