Week 46 - ATP Year End Tour Finals - Turin, Italy (indoor hard) - DOUBLES

We have had slam winners at the AO and Wimbledon

Slam runners up at FO and USO

(so half the slam finalists have been Brits pretty much - 7 out of 16 players)

World's top ranked pair at year end

World's top two individual players

and now guaranteed World Finals winner and 5 of the last 6 players left in

Halcyon days

Great win. Worth noting that if Joe & Neal go on to win the whole tournament, we will have the world 1, 2, 3=. 5 and 7 at the end of the year... I'm usually team Cashpool, but I quite like the sound of that ;)

H and H won 39 - 28 points here. The Italians served 8 aces to 3, and Harri and Henry served 2 doubles as well.

If we take points in actual play, it was 36 points to 18. That is almost unheard of dominance at this level.

2/3rds of the points.

That must be close to their best performance as a pair - albeit I didnt see it and there may be more to it. Nonetheless, that is a heck of a result and scoreline

 Fabulous, isnt it!

Not sure why Joe and Neal are actually splitting, watching them here they still clearly get on well and are playing well. I know Neal and Harrison are good friends so maybe it is something that was always planned

I am afraid I am team H and H, have always liked Harri generally and follow him more than any other doubles player. But really dont care where this lands now!

 Don't be afraid, you are far from alone     C'mon, H & H !

Love that summary of the GB men's doubles year. Louis Cayer should arguably be sporting coach of the year, but I doubt he will even get a mention at say SPOTY. Indeed will our doubles players?

Thats a really good shout re Louis - he should be more recognised, but will he?

is there also a case for a PoS wildcard nomination for GB mens doubles to rival GB mens singles? And is there a place for a coach, such as Louis, in the wildcard nominations process? What do you reckon?

For me, probably not a general doubles PoS WC nomination since it is centred  on a few ( a few more than any other.country! ) super pairs and they have been getting recognised and nominated as the year has gone along, but hey if anyone thinks otherwise, go for it come WC nomination time. Our general men's challenger and more particularly ITF level performances and ranking improvements has I think been fairly remarkable this year and I would like it to be looked at as a whole in the WC  nomination I intend to make.

And again just for me, sorry Louis, I think you should get more recognition but not in our PoM / PoS.

The all British mens semi is on court now. On serve at the moment, closing in on 3 all.

All on serve and not many rallies of note. Not sure who I want to win; part of me would like to see joe and Neal do it, but Im 51/49 at most!
