Isabella wins 6-4 7-6(4). Caught the tiebreak as I'd never seen her play. Looks like she has a nice, tidy game at this level. Her opponent had the bigger hit but could be wild and her attitude was atrocious.

Well done!

Excellent top-1000 win for Isabella smile

She was 2-4 down in that second set TB too

And there was some VERY ripe language coming from the young Belgian mademoiselle biggrin

Following last week's W35 SF, this will push Alicia's CH up further to around 445 with hopefully again more to come this week. FWIW moves her ahead of Ranah as provisionally GB # 15 & 16.

Alicia was well behind in that first set and the tiebreak was a very scrappy affair from both

Until the last two points where Alicia really came good

And then had all the momentum going forward

I make it that this is her second best win this year / ever

Tennis abstract aren't showing this match yet, but show Alicia's previous best win as WR322. Hope this link works !

 No

She beat Sarah R Rajaonah in Roehampton this year, on the way to taking the title

Sarah was WR 184 at the time, according to the WTA site

must be a glitch in the Tennis Abtract recording - as CD says, the French girl was the top seed in that Roehampton event and has moved up the rankings further since then

Yes, it's a glitch - Sarah doesn't have a ranking against her name. Normally a very good website  cry

A very noisy opponent (not sure which was which) had a MTO at 9-9 in the MTB, which obviously disrupted the play.
