JonH I am in a conundrum! I see Mimi isnt amongst the end of season finalists. Is this where I would nominate her?. I would want to hold off a little to see how she gets on in her final tournaments of the year, notwithstanding that she may get a nomination for December.Thanks.
Absolutely. She hasnt qualified yet, Im afraid, she may do through December Pom vote but that takes place after this process closes. My recommendation is you post it here as a wildcard nomination and that way she is on the list; we can always update the narrative later. if she qualifies through December Pom , we just take her out of this. And all is good.
my recommendation is you add her to the list with a reason and put to be updated against it in the narrative!
I was seeing Mimi as an obvious missing candidate and was planning to nominate her if no one else got there first! (I just needed to check her achievements to put together a narrative and hadn't had time to do that yet. )
I will be happy to add Tanaqui when you post.Mimi has had an impressive rise in the rankings this year. 440 to around 250, getting towards the tougher end of the rankings table. Also won two titles but also has been reaching the business end of tournaments. A lot to shout about really, steady progress, working hard and building a strong foundation.
Good stuff - so long as someone goes for it, we should all be happy! There is no limit to the size of the nominees list or the number anyone person can put forward, so don't feel constrained. I wish there was a better way to capture and record these, sadly I don't think there is. But we will make this work.
I have one more lined up for tomorrow, and then most of the days through the 17th, so even if not many come from other directions, we should have a reasonable list come the end of the month!
Have nominated Mimi but Var and anyone else is very welcome to improve on (correct?) what I've written!
Player of the Season Wildcard nomination and reason:
1. Savannah Dada-Mascoll - An unexpected history making breakout year. Highest singles ranking in Appalachian State history at No 5. First App State player to qualifier for NCAAs, All-American and NCAA quarter-finalist. Carolina region co-champion. Full narrative in post 3
2. Ben Jones - has won the most titles of any player this season with 9 at the time of writing. All of those are doubles titles, 5 at M25 level and with 7 different partners. Plaudits for being our player with the most titles!
3. Mimi Xu - in her final year as a junior, reached the semi-finals of junior Wimbledon while mostly concentrating on making a successful transition to senior tennis. She won the best title of her senior career at the W100 in Wrexham and has raised her ranking from around WR500 at the start of the year to around WR250.

4. Hamish Stewart - Hamish also was prolific in winning titles this year, taking 8 in total as of end of November; 1 singles and 7 doubles at ITF level. He also managed to significantly improve his rankings, at the age of 26, almost halving both singles (to around 338) and doubles to 249) in a year where he made significant strides. Expecting more from him in 2025, but those 8 titles get him on the list.
So far Ive recognised a couple of the players whove won the most titles this season, and not previously qualified for PoS. One or two are already in PoS who have also won 8 titles. I have one more title winner Im planning to nominate tomorrow.
Ive then get 3 other criteria Im recognising over the next couple of weeks with nominations, although hoping one or two others board members join the party and nominate them before me, to save me the trouble, or get in with their own nominations in due course.
im anticipating 4 wildcards is the most likely end scenario, so at least now we have a quorum! Looking forward to seeing more names spring forward! Dont be shy!

5. Jake Fearnley - Starting the year at WR99, Jake maintained a top 100 ranking throughout the year, despite struggling in the second half of 2025 as he embarked on only his second year on the main tour. He reached a CH of 49 and was GB #2 for part of the year, having won his first main draw matches at ATP500 and ATP1000 level in 2025, as well as rounds at the Australian, French and US Opens.
Glad to help! Jake was very frustrating to support in the second half of the year (so much of his struggle going on in his head, it seems) and I wanted to scream every time (4 of them!) he ran into Zverev, who is the player on tour I most detest, but Jake did have a pretty decent year when looked at overall.
As threatened, I wish to shine a light on the huge success we have had in ITF men's singles this year ( not been at all bad at doubles either ) ...

6. GB ITF men's singles players - as of 01/12 more ITF singles tities than any other nation ( 61 with Italy second on 58 ), with a particularly impressive record in M25s ( 36, with France second on 25 ). We started the year with 9 players in the top 300, with the then essentially ITF players (a number have advanced to challengers as the year has progressed), then making that 12 in the top 400 and 19 in the top 500. We are ending the year with 15 in the top 300, 25 in the top 400 (more than double), and 29 in the top 500 (for so long in the past 20 seemed an elusive target). Remarkable.

PS - are you ok if we take out the "in 2025" from the name of the nomination - just that everyone nominated in this and PoS will be for their performances in 2025, anything else doesn't count by its very nature. Just an observation!

7. Arthur Fery - after returning from a long spell of injury, Arthur began the year by winning the M25 title at Roehampton, unseeded and without losing a set. In August, he won his second title of the year and his first at challenger level at the Barranquilla CH75. In between, he won his first main draw match at Wimbledon and secured a win on his debut at the Davis Cup. He ends the year having qualified for an ATP250 for the first time and at a new CH inside the top 200.
