Are France going to cause an upset? Up 3-2 against USA after men's doubles.

GB defeat Australia 4-2 and through to the final biggrin
Great stuff

It's looking like it will be against USA who are a set up in the deciding mixed doubles rubber.

 Sadly, no cry

Great effort from Grace, to only lose 8-10, against such a high ranked player

Eliz and Finn have won both their singles so far, in fact Finn is 4-0 if you add in doubles. Good luck against the Americans !

 I don't think so

Finn lost 12-10 on the first day

Just watched the MTB for 'little' fave Ollie O's match

All tight at the start

And then Oliver started serving some absolute first serve bombs !!!!

And wins 7-5 3-6 10-6

Excellent win over a player a fair bit higher ranked than him

And in a really noisy environment (the noise from the courts next door is huge, as well as their one) - although all the US college players, in particular, are used to noise

Anyway, great win and it's now 1-1

GBR 2 USA 2

Grace lost to Valerie Glozman 4 & 2
Finn had a great win over Aidan Kim 2 & 6

We're behind 1-4* in women's doubles which was always going to be a difficult one against a strong doubles pairing. Unless Sofia and Grace can turn it around we're going to need men's and mixed doubles.

Our doubles girls were doing well - up until 3-3 in the MTB when Sofia missed a pretty easy volley, Grace pushed her forehand long, and it all went downhill from there, and they didn't win another point

But Oliver Okonkwo continues to hold the fort - him and Finn Murgett won the men's doubles, 6-4 6-4

James Connel and Sofia Johnson are now 5-1 up in the mixed

Allex, les Brits !

GB ends USAs stranglehold on the competition having won the last 5 editions going back to 2018. biggrin

I wasn't holding out much hope of them making much progress after the 1st day's performance, but they dig deep to beat Australia in the semis and then the strong USA team in the final.

Brillliant - I watched most of the first set of the deciding doubles

And thought there was almost bound to be a twist, a lost second set, a MTB - it's just the way of things

But couldn't hang around to watch

SO pleased to see they won

Really great team effort, and with some super individual performances too
