RE: 2026 - Women's Ranking Prediction Competition

As well as the Mr Average and as you were entries, how about seems how we do against AI chatbots? I've done Google Gemini and Microsoft co-pilot. I don't have an Apple device for Siri.

Of course the response is dependent on the prompt it's given and I may have slightly influenced the response with a Specific instruction for ollie T.

I put "Predict the top 10 British tennis players by end of 2026. Give me ATp rankings within a range of 5. Make them realistic based on current ATP rankings and August to November 2025 form. Assume Oliver Tarvet doesn't play until June when he tUrns pro " for the men followed by
"create a similar top 10 prediction for British women tennis players "

Gemini and co_ pilot response are below. They gave a range so I've selected the mid-point for their entries

Gemini
Predicted Top 10 British Women (Year-End 2026)
Predicted RankPlayerProjected WTA RangeNotes on 2025 Form & 2026 Outlook
1 Emma Raducanu 17
15 - 20 Ended 2025 at #29; showed elite consistency and Top 10 wins (Navarro). Expected to push for Top 15.
2Sonay Kartal 50
45 - 55 Breakout 2025 season (reaching #44); established herself as a consistent main-draw WTA threat.
3 Francesca Jones 65
60 - 70 Exceptional 2025 on clay (84% win rate). If she stays healthy, she is a lock for the Top 75.
4 Katie Boulter 80
75 - 85 Had a ranking dip late in 2025 (#106); expected to stabilize in the Top 100 given her pedigree.
5 Harriet Dart 135
130 - 140 Reliable Top 150 player; consistent performer in BJK Cup and grass-court swings.
6 Mika Stojsavljevic 157
150 - 165 Junior US Open champ; ended 2025 at #295. Expected to make a "Fearnley-style" jump into the Top 200.
7 Jodie Burrage 177
170 - 185 Working her way back from injury; 2026 should see her return to the upper echelons of the British list.
8 Mimi Xu 197
190 - 205 Rapid rise in late 2025 (hitting #234); elite junior transition looks highly promising.
9 Lily Miyazaki 227
220 - 235 Consistent Challenger/ITF presence; likely to remain a fixture in Grand Slam qualifying.
10 Hannah Klugman 257
250 - 265 Currently a top-5 junior; 2026 will be her first full season with a significantly increased pro schedule.

Projected Top 10 British Women - End of 2026
RankPlayerPredicted WTA Rank (±5)Notes
1 Emma Raducanu 17
WTA 12-22 Raducanu's resurgence continues after stabilising around #29 in 2025; full healthy season pushes her toward top 20 again.
2 Sonay Kartal 45
WTA 35- 55 Kartal's late 2025 surge (currently #68) suggests a top 50 breakthrough with more WTA main draw wins.
3 Francesca Jones 57
WTA 45-70Jones' consistency at WTA 250 level in 2025 makes a top 60 finish realistic.
4 Katie Boulter 75
WTA 60- 90 Boulter's experience keeps her competitive, though slight ranking decline from #106 is likely.
5 Harriet Dart 110
WTA90-130 Dart's Challenger level form keeps her around top 120; occasional WTA wins maintain stability.
6 Mingge Xu 135
WTA 110- 160Xu's rapid rise (currently #234) suggests a strong 2026 breakthrough into top 150.
7 Yuriko Miyazaki 155
WTA 130- 180 Miyazaki's steady results keep her in the 130- 180 range.
8 Jodie Burrage 165
WTA 140- 190 Burrage's injury affected 2025 limits her ceiling, but she remains top 10 in Britain.
9 Heather Watson 180
WTA 150- 210 Watson's veteran consistency keeps her competitive but trending downward.
10 Katie Swan 195
WTA 160- 230 Swan's talent is clear, but injuries and inconsistency keep her outside top 150.

Interesting Lambda. Maybe we should allow an AI entry in each prediction competition to see what happens?

Oh yes, I like that. I'm currently checking all the entries but can add those in. Not allowed to win of course.

I've already calculated Mr Average's entry so here goes. I'll do a more detailed analysis when I return from Spain next week as I won't have access to the spreadsheets.
Slight adjustment after checking the entries (typos !) and adding in the four extra entries.

1. Emma 20 (41 picks)
2. Sonay 51 (41 picks)
3. Fran 83 (40 picks)
4. Katie B 88 (41 picks)
5. Harriet 135 (37 picks)
6. Mimi 153 (41 picks)
7. Mika 173 (36 picks)
8. Jodie 176 (27 picks)
9. Katie S 183 (30 picks)
10. Heather 206 (15 picks)
Sub Lily 219 (22 picks)

Also ran:- Hannah 238 (16 picks)
(These exclude players with 10 or fewer picks))

All entries are now in the spreadsheet and checked. Just some final random checks to be made on individual scores (yes, it needs QA !)

Here are the starting points for this year's competition. An interesting set of predictions with a wide range. Mervatron is the most optimistic with a prediction of a rise of 710 places for our top 10, with Bagel being the most pessimistic with a fall of 10% (i.e. 173 places). If anyone disagrees with their points please send me a private message with your query and I will look into it, rather than discuss it in this thread.

Telstar, just checking that you do mean Savannah Dada-Mascoll as she is currently unranked and without a single point. I'm sure you do and I'm not aware of another Savannah anyway.

Sorry Addict I've only just seen this question. Yes I did mean Savannah Dada-Mascoll
