Well, Katie is a wildcard and she's got a qualifier

Shame for Sonay, the field sort of tails off quality wise quite quickly when you get out the seeds. But a good test for a first match back after a fairly long break. Suspect Fran could have picked up a win against most of the non-seeds to, but no pressure at all.

Here's to a fun 2026!

I wouldn't really say that the field tails off much quality wise. All the direct entrants are top 100. Stearns WR 63 is the 8th seed then the other 14 direct entrants are ranked from Kartal WR 68 to Grabber WR 95 with Boulter WR 106 requiring a WC. Still bit unlucky for Sonay and Fran to draw seeds.

Id say Grabher, Zarazua, Udvardy, Cocciaretto etc... are very much a 'tier' below the seeds, Sonay and Vekic (although she's a bit all over the place at times) even if the ranking spread isn't huge. Anyway, the draw is the draw.

Slightly OT but Maia and Fran are listed as alts for the AO doubles. I think they are 2nd alts so should get a spot.
