In the mens doubles in Japan, Alfie and Gordon progress to the semis; Ben Bartram also does after he and his partner, Rodrigues, overcame fellow Brit Andy Penney and his partner.

In the quad doubles, Greg Slade also progressed to the semis.

Left in now:

MS - Alfie, Gordon
MD- Alfie/Gordon, Ben+
QD - Greg+

A great day in Japan for the British players today!

Mens singles - highlight is Gordon Reid beating 4th seed Gustavo Fernandez 3-6 6-4 6-2. Great win for Gordon

Alfie also won his last 8 match over Egberink in straight sets

Alfie and Gordon now play each other in the semis! The other semi is Tokito Oda versus Ji of China

Mens doubles - Alfie and Gordon won their semi over Ben and Rodrigues, play de la Puente and Egberink in the final. That was a small seeding upset and Alfie and Gordon could have a chance of moving back to join number 1 spot if they can win the final

Quad doubles - Greg and Leandro Pena of Brazil won their semi in a MTB, over the top seeds, and move into the final to play 3rd seeded Sam Schroder and Jin Woodman.

So, finalists in both mens and quad doubles events and an all British mens singles semi. Good stuff.

Alfie beat Gordon 6-3 6-3 to win their semi. The other semi is just to start and the two doubles finals take place later.

Sam Schroder won the quad singles in a third set tie break over his compatriot and rival Niels Vink, the world number one. The womens singles is an all Japanese affair.

Greg and partner lost the quad final, decent week for them though.

Mens singles, Alfies final opponent will be Oda - of course, never in doubt.

Look forward to Alfie taking him on in Japan!

Brilliant, with a 4-6 6-4 6-2 score line, Alfie Hewett wins the Japan Open WC 1000 title over his big rival Tokito Oda , the world number one - Alfie therefore does the double here and is well back to form with consecutive wins over Oda!

Definitely - attention turns to the clay, with big events in Rome and a 1000 event in Barcelona before the FO. Lots of good WC tennis to come!

The British Open is elevated to a WC 1000 this season and takes place alongside the J300 event at Roehampton

www.lta.org.uk/fan-zone/british-open-tennis/news/leading-british-stars-headline-world-class-entry-list/

The worlds top 14 women are entered, making it as strong as if not stronger in its 16 player field than the 16 player Wimbledon field.

9 of the top 10 worlds men play, and 7 of the top 10 quad players.

The event follows the WC 500 level event at Eastbourne alongside the pre Wimbledon WTA/ATP event. Eastbourne will have 8 player singles draws.

Alfie and Gordon both won and move into the semis; Andy P lost to de la puente.

De la Puente plays Gordon in the semis, his third Brit in succession. If he wins and plays Alfie in the final, that would be 4 in a row.
