2025 BRITISH TENNIS FORUM PLAYER OF THE SEASON VOTE - FINAL for the Sir Andy Murray Trophy

4 players have made the final- congrats to them all. None of them have won this before, a new name will be crowned champion!

You know the drill - tell us when you vote and who for!

The contenders are listed in order of how they performed in the semis and first round votes.

Vote will close Sunday evening at 7:37pm UK time.

I will be 5 1/2 hours ahead and flying and working most of that, or sleeping, so Indy will help guide us through the final. A timer is set so it should close automatically. Ive set it to close then and thus start now so that there is a small chance Ill still be awake at 1am local time (with jet lag!) to see the end!

We had 46 votes in the semis and 52 in last years final. It would be great to get somewhere near that again!

All 4 of these would be worthy winners - Ive been v close to voting for Fran and Sonay earlier and thought Alicia might well get through to the final ( I recall saying she was a contender a couple of months ago, shes proven me right!)

But Lloyd and Julian take it for me- their golden summer at home, leading to Wimbledon glory and a year end worlds top pair spot. Its hard to surpass that, and that makes them my personal players of the season

I do wonder if the womens supporters will find their vote splitting across two or three players and Julian and Lloyd will fill the gap and take the title!

Maybe to some extent, although it's possibly more these who would concentrate more on singles in general being possibly split, though I doubt absolute core votes as per later.

To a large extent, it's almost by the way that these happen to be 3 women. This has been a year where I'd say the GB absolute top impressing singles players have been seen to come from women to the extent that although there will no doubt be many who in general prefer the men's game ( even if maybe slightly more follow the women's game on the forum ) the votes have ultimately just gone with excellence leaving no big men's singies contenders.

Now, it gets a bit more complicated when you put a doubles pair into the mix. Sheer big wins and it's clearly Cash /Glasspool every day but doubles is clearly not singles ( folk have had this conversation before ) so how folk view and like each discipline plays a large part, as does relative development. And then judging whether say one or more of the women's achievements mean more for them than these big doubles titles.

I doubt there are many folk who are singles or big doubles come what may ( so I am not sure of essential core votes ) but differences in how they look at each. Throw in the different personalities involved, and random reasons for just sheer liking some player / players and this is all so uncertain. Which is what we want!

Anyway, that waffle over, for me it's undoubtedly Fran or Sonay. I will get back later on my final choice.

Oh - I forgot to say. If theres a tie for first place only. Per PoM votes this year, there will be a tie break vote off between those tied over an additional 24 hours. If that remains tied, we call it a draw. Lets see where it lands - Ive got to get up at 3 so off to bed!

Julian and Lloyd for me, but this is a very worthy list of finalists!

Well that was my first thought entirely and I will therefore be shocked if Julian and Lloyd don't win. I was between Fran and Katie S up to the semi-final, but with Katie out, that makes it an easy one for me. No disrespect to Sonay' steady all round improvement as a player, but I think Fran's story is a truly remarkable one and that she deserves it this year.

If this event was showing at the bookies though, I'd happily stick a 2 figure sum on Julian and Lloyd to win.

As I said earlier it was certainly between Fran and Sonay for me. And I have gone with Sonay.

WTA 1000 Indian Wells, L16, beat Haddad Maia WR 17 on the way.
Wimbledon, L16, beat Ostapenko WR 20 on the way, and handled the big stage very well.
WTA 1000 Beijing QF. beat Kasatkina WR 20, Joint WR 36, and no less than Andreeva WR 5 on the way.

Plus 3 impressive Billie Jean Cup wins in qualifying snd the finals before losing a 3 setter to Navarro WR 18 in the SFs.

Plus reached a CH 44 after Wimbledon.

The rise of Fran in the rankings and many of her performances have been great to see, never forgetting of course what she has had to overcome. But for me, the truly impactful big tournament runs and wins in the year have come from Sonay.

I agree with the sentiments expressed by others about the possibility of Julian and Lloyd winning this year because of the voters for Fran and Sonay being split. I must say I have been drawn to mens doubles this year for the first time since loving watching back in the 70's .. but for me it is definitely a different sport from singles tennis

I guess where I am is 1st equal Fran and Sonay, 3rd Julian/Lloyd with Katie "mentioned in dispatches"

And so I will cast my vote for Fran in the expectation that this year neither of the top two will win ..

A tricky choice. I've opted for Cashpool.
