I do wonder if the womens supporters will find their vote splitting across two or three players and Julian and Lloyd will fill the gap and take the title!

Well that was my first thought entirely and I will therefore be shocked if Julian and Lloyd don't win. I was between Fran and Katie S up to the semi-final, but with Katie out, that makes it an easy one for me. No disrespect to Sonay' steady all round improvement as a player, but I think Fran's story is a truly remarkable one and that she deserves it this year.

If this event was showing at the bookies though, I'd happily stick a 2 figure sum on Julian and Lloyd to win.

Fortunately I assume that you didn't find any bookies quoting odds on our PoS

I wonder how many of us voted tactically to ensure one of the ladies singles players won?

Perhaps a few but tbf Sonay got a pretty big vote there and was again close to.Julian & Lloyd ( they tied against each other in their SF ) with both their votes down from that SF. I just don't think there was quite such a core singles vs doubles vote as some folk seemed to think. Fran impressed folk and I think was getting votes from everywhere, including from some who voted for Julian & Lloyd in the SF ( Fran was in the other SF ).

thanks to Tanaqui and Jan for the thanks - I will send out the cross forum survey soon using check-a-trade. It isn't a scam, honest!

Re the result and vote splitting - thing is, Fran won fair and square for sure. It wasnt so much doubles v singles I expected, I think I assumed people here are more fixed in their "following" of the men's or womens game (as opposed to singles and doubles - I dont think many follow doubles primarily, one or two do). But I do think more follow mens (eg me) or womens (eg many others!) more or less, and thought votes may split a little with that. But they didnt! And that is good.

Being honest - as a follower of the mens game, largely, and someone who voted for men through the process (cos I went with what I follow), I was genuinely really pleased that Fran won and think she really deserves the accolade!

If someone is a twitterer or whatever the phrase is , or instagrammer, they should post something to Fran telling her!! Seriously!

And, Indy - nah, no one was taking any odds it seems!!

Good idea re someone letting Fran know. Though she may then be expecting to receive the Sir Andy Murray Trophy.

Ha - for the "figurative" Sir Andy Murray Trophy - and there is always Andy will sue for TM breaches!!

Maybe I will take the chance!
