Sofia Johnson signed in and missed qualifying by 1 spot. She must have some commitment in the States to keep only entering tournaments over there. She could have got into Manchester with a QWC (I assume the QWCs in Manc were just next GB to have signed in) and she was over here over Christmas.

Ella McDonald plays C Kuhl in R1. They met in Helsinki last year with Ella winning 6-2 3-1.

That'll be an interesting journey home! Ella and Carolina are both incomings at Louisiana State University this month.

Interesting. Both 20 yo comparatively late incomers with similar current WRs and CHs in the top 400.

Even more interesting - they are playing doubles together and are seeded 4

Completely expected Ella and Caroline to play doubles together. The LSU coach probably insisted on it and it's easier to ask the person you travelled with and are (probably) rooming with.

Ciara is entered in doubles with an Arizona team mate and is 2nd alt
Sofia is entered with a fellow JTCC based player and is 4th alt.
