Well done Emma! Good turnaround in the set. needs to keep being aggressive and serving well.

Yes, quite a turnaround from 1-3* 15-40* to 6-4.

I might dare to watch some of it now.

I liked one of Emma's choice of shots when she was sent very wide by her opponent and instead of playing the obvious crosscourt return where her opponent was waiting no doubt to play the winner down the line Emma went for the more difficult winner into the near corner and made it.

Oh phew! That turned into quite a relaxing enjoyable match to watch. I was so glad to see her team eventually enjoying it as well. They do seem like a very nice bunch.... I'm glad for her.

Yes, it had looked like it was going to be quite a downer........ but  happily  the gremlins left and  Emma   moved into , not sure what you'd call it, but  a much better place. - mind and body  working well together.

It was reminiscent of her matches in the 2021 US Open when she would struggle for a few games until she had sussed her opponent out and then the irresistible force of the Emma steamroller got going and she would reel off game after game. Now if Emma could just repeat that performance against better players starting with Potapova it could be a rewarding 2026.

Fran retires. Caught the very end so I'm not sure what the problem was. Frustrating.

Fran 2-6 2-3 Ret.

I missed the end but at the MTO she was lying on her front while medics were manipulating one of her legs.
